Tour: The Fire Theft

Hey folks, I know most of you odn't know who The Fire Theft is, but if you like Sunny Day Real Estate, this is the same band, minus one guitarist. Even if you've never heard of either and you want to go just see a good show on my word, here are the dates.

WHEN? WHERE? VENUE? WITH?
5/22/04 West Palm Beach, FL Kelsey Club Mellowdrone
5/24/04 Orlando, FL The Social Mellowdrone and Secret Machines
5/25/04 Jacksonville, FL Jack Rabbits Mellowdrone and Secret Machines
5/26/04 Atlanta, GA Cotton Club Mellowdrone and Secret Machines
5/28/04 Nashville, TN Exit In Mellowdrone and Secret Machines
5/29/04 Columbia, SC Headliners Mellowdrone and Secret Machines
5/30/04 Richmond, VA Alley Katz Mellowdrone and Secret Machines
5/31/04 DC Black Cat Mellowdrone and Secret Machines
6/02/04 NYC, NY Bowery Ballroom Mellowdrone
6/03/04 Boston, MA Bill's Bar Mellowdrone and Secret Machines
6/04/04 Philadelphia, PA TLA Mellowdrone and Secret Machines
6/05/04 Toronto Mod Club Mellowdrone and Secret Machines
6/09/04 Los Angeles, CA Troubadour IQU
6/10/04 San Diego, CA BellyUp

6/12/04 Portland, OR Berbati's Pan Shannon Wright, Swords Project, Point Line Plane

Jim, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get the opportunity to see Tortoise and the Fire Theft in the same week! So jealous...

What happened to Sunny Day Real Estate, spaz. Liked them. What was behind the change in name.

They actually broke up and did entirely seperate projects for a while. Then they all got back together, minus Hoerner. So The Fire Theft is 3/4 of SDRE. I think they went ahead with a name change because of a slight change in musical direction and the desire not to have to play the SDRE songs live anymore, but that's just a guess.

The Fire Theft, the band
The Fire Theft, the album

Cut and paste blurb from Amazon.com:

"The Fire Theft is a 13 song tour de force where bleak visions stew and desperately search for a crack of light: desperation divided by desire"

Had to listen after THAT description!!

I like it!

From what I can hear it's a lighter feel than SDRE. Got my eye out for a copy. Thanks again, spaz.
