Show 25 - "Black Is Beautiful"

Yes indeed. This week all of the songs have the word "Black" in them. Don't ask me how I think of these things.

1) Blackest Eyes - Porcupine Tree

Been looking for an excuse to play this one.

2) Black Cat Shuffle - Al Dimeola

Al and Jan.....

3) Black Cat - Gentle Giant

An oldie but a goodie.

4) Black Hat - National Health

Jazzy little scat number.

5) Black Moon - ELP

Seems to be missing from the Moon (song only)...really is a black moon!

6) Black & White - Deep Purple

Off of "House Of Blue Light", a later period fantastic record.

7) Blackbird - Schleigho

Lego my Schleigho!

8) Blackbird - The Beatles

I've been waiting for this moment to arrive....

9) Black Licorice - Grand Funk Railroad

From the 1974 live record "Caught In The Act", features a dynamic vocal by Don Brewer.

10) Black Licorice - Gamalon

Another repeat song title....love that first Gamalon record.

11) Black Ice - Stu Hamm

The bassmeister.

12) Starless and Bible Black - King Crimson

Meandering, but failure to include this one probably would make someone mad.

13) Black Roses - Mystery

A band I'm finding more and more pleasurable with each listen.

14) Ritual - Big Black Secret

Another band I'm learning.

15) Tantalus - Black Dream

I'll be listening to this one closely...not familiar with them.

16) Black Napkins - Frank Zappa

Can put Uncle Frank in every show.

17) Logos Affinity - Suitor In Black

Want to sample this one too.

18) Black Eyes and Broken Glass - Enchant

Very socially and emotionally aware these guys. Dedicated to Old Sod .

19) The Black River - Djam Karet

One of my favorite bands.

20) Fourteen Black Paintings - Peter Gabriel

Not too many "obscure" Gabriel tunes, but this may apply.

21) Black December - It Bites

Thanks to SAM for playing this today.

22) Black Holes Colliding - The Gak Omek

Intersting tune. A bit of a challenge at 10+ minutes, but still fun.

23) Black Satin Dancer - Jethro Tull

Jethro Tull. Enough said.

24) Black Flag - King's X

"Black Flag on my roaches"...can't get that out of my head

25) Black Like Sunday - Kings X

Another rocker from another favorite group.

26) Black Light Syndrome - Bozzio Levin Stevens

Tony Levin works his way into another show....

27) Black Betty - Ram Jam

Yes I own this. It's a best of, and damn if I remember if the rest is any good, but "whoa Black Betty, ram a lam!" Deal with it.

28) Inside Black - Planet X

Guitar-driven, a bit of a change up for them.

29) Short Tales of the Black Forest - DeLucia Dimeola McLaughlin

Where else can you hear this two songs after Ram Jam? OK maybe Gnosis.... One of the most fun songs ever made. The interplay and improvisation of this piece is just great.

30) Black Noise - FM

This CD should be in everyone's collection.

31) March Of The Black Queen - Queen

A nice finisher, I think this tune is a masterpiece.

See you in the Black Box!

I'm a big ELP fan, but that being missing is not an accident...

Kind of poppy, but not in a bad way. Maybe like Spock's Beard with shorter songs but a bit more oomph. I like them.

If you don't own this one, you're missing out on one of the best albums ever. Rick may be playing the WORST song from the album, and it's GREAT.

I see. I'm not crazy about the ELP record either, but there are songs off of it. I found them all a bit lacking, actually.

yes I agree with the FM....I had played that whole CD on the first show. The "worst song great record" theory really is proved during a "Theme" show.

The latest Tarentel release is a single-track ep of 43+ minutes called "Big Black Square," for what it's worth. And I'd have liked to see a King's X trifecta with "Black the Sky"... Huh!

the interuptions on my post were in my setting...meetings, mucky-mucks in the office kept me AFK for most of the show

...just wanted to clear that up, the stream was fine
