Show 98 - Catching Up
Some diverse music either burned for me or bought by me recently...
from Mongol "Dopoler 444" (1997) From the Beyond - Doppler 444 (9:58) Garadama (7:04) Merazoma (6:47) Dense fusion from Japan. from Rak "Lepidoptera" (2004) To the Refuge (5:30) Metamorhosis: two (1:51) Lepidoptera: Beast (1:41) Lepidoptera: Savage (1:55) The Consequences (3:26) Those Bright Wings (5:22) Last Words (2:23) Departure (4:22) Migration (6:28) Prog, but with a new wave bent at times. Very reliant on keyboards..it got great reviews as I researched, but I totally missed it when it came out. Both of these burned by Podakayne for my long car ride in July, a big thanks to her ![]() Group 87 - Sublime Feline (6:25) Just one song from a CD from 1980 that you can hear on the Moon. I paid 25 cents for it and that's how much I like it. Mark Isham, Peter Maunu (Ponty's band), and Patrick O'Hearn. The only song on this week's show presently on the Moon playlist! Encompass (2006) - selected songs... A Postwar Requiem (8:16) Perchance to Dream (5:30) Impulse (4:20) The Eyes of Ankara (9:02) Virginia-based prog-metal, opened for Spock's Beard earlier this year (that's where I got the CD, a promo). Mature stuff for a debut, although a bit limited because of the genre. There's a section in "Ankara" that's a dead ringer for Rush's "Lamneth". Manfred Mann's Earth Band - from "Watch" (1978) Circles Dreaming on Dry Land / Fish Soup Chicago Institute California Missing Mick Rogers, it lacks the greatness of the earlier records, especially "Nightingales and bombers", a desert-island disc for me. Still quality stuff. Wishbone Ash - from "No Smoke Without Fire" (1978) You See Red Baby The Angels Are Here Ships in the Sky Like A Child Way of the World (part 2) Come In From the Rain (live) Another band I lost track of, with an earlier "desert-island" record (the magnificent "Argus").. Mossy bought this and shipped it from Vegas ![]() After Crying - from "After Crying Show" (2003) NWC Remote Control Technopolis? Life Must Go On The progmasters from Hungary put out a very eclectic, ambitious CD in 2003. It's all over the place, with lots of political and social commentary. Enjoy the ride this week!
