Focus

On Friday evening myself and my friend took a trip down to Sonderborg, not far from the German border to see Focus who were playing 2 dates in Denmark. This being their first visit for 30 years. It was the local music club that stood behind the arrangement in a small hall with max. 200 ppl. So there was a good view and the sound was good without being loud.

The most predominate on the stage was the Hammond organ that looked like it had been through a world war, but it played well and was Thejs von Leers instrument together with his flute and voice. The other solo instrument was of course the guitar, now handled by Niels van der Steenhoven, while not being a Jan Akkerman, handled the job really well with technicality and feeling. Bobby Jacobs was on bas and Pierre van der Linden on drums. They all had their solo spots during the show ( a couple were I thought being too long)

The playlist as I could gather looked like this:
House of the King
Focus 7
Focus 8
Sylvians Stepson
Aya Yuppie Hippie Yee
Eruption- Moving Waves
Sylvia
Focus 2
Focus 3
Hurkey Turkey 2
Strasbourg Cathedral
Harem Scarem
Ode to Venus
Hokus Pokus
Brother (extra)

As one can see they played a handful of numbers from their latest album plus some of the well known tracks. I was very pleased they played Strasbourg from Hamburger Concerto.

A very enjoyable evening and recommended for Focus fans.

I regret not taking my camera equipment but I do have a couple of pix if anyone is interested from my PDA camera.

Re: Focus

Thank you for responding, Ted. I meant to reply but got swamped and it slipped my mind.

I love Focus. I missed them at Progday, and I'll bet they were something in the 70's. Anyone have any old Focus stories?

Great set list! and Yuppie and Hippie in the same song?
