Went to see Kansas Saturday night outdoors at the Frontier City amusement park in OKC. The show was fabulous and their vocals and musicianship flawless. I have no idea what the first song they played was, but here's a list of songs they played, not in order: Belexes, Icarus II, Point of Know Return, Portrait (He Knew), Spark of the Tempest, Hold On, and for the encores were Dust in the Wind and Carry On Wayward Son. The show started promptly at 8 pm and was over at 9:15. Very disappointed at the length of the show. They could have played so many more songs.

Original members Steve Walsh - keyboards, Richard Williams - guitar, and drummer Phil Ehart was joined by violinist/guitarist David Ragsdale and bass player Billy Greer.

The show was awesome, they just should have played longer. Can you believe 'Point of Know Return' is 30 years old?

I would love to see them again, the first time was in 1978! I have heard that Ragsdale is very good.

but an hour and fifteen minutes? that's no way to treat your fans...

when i saw them open up for Styx about four years ago, that sounded like the same set but they only played an hour...Journey from mariabronn was played and they opened with Mysteries and Mayhem. maybe that was the song?

ragsdale's a freak of nature....

I was marvelling over how long ago some of that music was too. Unbelievable....

No Mystreries and Mayhem wasn't the first song. I forgot to mention they also played a very Kansasfied version of Eleanor Rigby. My daughter wants me to buy David Ragsdales solo cd. He was very impressive.

By the way, Kansas was the ONLY band of the evening. 75 minutes is just not enough.

I saw them open for ELP a while back with most of their orignal band, I believe. I think that was in the early 90's. They had a few sound issues early on but got it cranked up after a few. They only played about an hour - hour 15 that night too.

The first time I saw them in 77 was in Maryland at the Meriweather Paviliion in Rockville. The opening act was a female Guitarist's band. Her name was April something. She was amazing. But she disappeared after a few years. If anyone has some of her work please let me know. Kansas was awesome that night. Played two hours just from the first 5 albums (yeah, still vinyl back then).

I also just found a Kerry Livgren Solo CD I'll have to send in to the library for everyone.

Just think, they were this close to calling themselves White Clover instead of Kansas. Wouldn't that have been a horse of a different color.

There was talk of getting him to come to the Salem Hill w/e (he's all over the Robbery of Murder) but he needs to make some cash...understandable.
