Dan Fogelberg passes

Sadly, after a bout with advanced prostate cancer fiirst diagnosed in 2004, singer-songwriter Dan Fogelberg passed away Sunday, December 16th, at his home in Maine with his wife by his side, at the age of 56.

Best known for hits like Run for the Roses, Same Auld Lang Syne, Longer and Leader of the Band, I invite you to seek out some of his lesser known gems, such as Scarecrow's Dream, Netherlands, Tucson, Arizona (Gazette), Windows and Walls, and Sweet Magnolia (and the Travelling Salesman).

While not prog, he was one of my favorite song writers (not to mention a fellow Leo and midwesterner) and I'll miss him very much.

Good bye, Dan. Ever on....

Re: Dan Fogelberg passes

It was a sad day today to wake up to the news of the passing of Dan Fogelberg. Dan was a music genius and very much admired by my generation. A Part of the Plan was my high school senior class song which was a break with tradition back in the day when the Beatles "Yesterday" was always picked. I was very happy for him when he achieved commercial success which I always felt he deserved.

Rock on Dan! Here's a toast to you.

Re: Dan Fogelberg passes

I never will get used to that term. I initially read it to mean he was in concert and someone had passes to see him.

My wife is a big fan...and whenever I was trapped in a dept store, etc at the mercy of the tunes over the speakers, I'd hope a great pop song like "Power of Gold" would come on. Love that tune.

It's ok to like him - there are no "guilty" pleasures, really -he was a fantastic musician.

Re: Dan Fogelberg passes

a real loss. Netherlands and Twin Sons were the two albums I had, and they were great.
