ROSfest stolen guitar

On Saturday evening, after the VIP party, my room hosted a huge contingent of ROSfesters. Tom Smith left a bass guitar in my room which belonged to George Roldan's son. I placed it behind the chair in the corner for safe keeping.

On Sunday, we returned to our room to find it propped open and the guitar missing. I was completely bummed out from my high on an otherwise great ROSfest. I spent the late evening with George arguing with the hotel staff to get them to check the hotel security camera tapes.

Anyway, the guitar was taken from my room by its owner who found my room door propped open when he arrived there at 11:30 Sunday morning. We were long gone by then over at the Keswick Theater. I can only surmise that the hotel's room cleaning staff left the room door ajar.

I'm pleased that the guitar was not stolen and is back in the hands of its rightful owner; however, I am quite miffed that my room door was left unsecured by hotel staff. I am pursuing this issue now with Hilton Hotels.

Glad to see all worked out for the best. BTW Vax, I noticed that cleaning staff would prop the doors open with the security latch while in the rooms. Something obviously went wrong in your case. Glad to see you are pursuing some form of action in that regard.

It's OK when we did that with the latch and were in the room, but not when we were not.

I've lodged both a vocal complain -- when I called Hilton -- and an email complaint via the Hilton web site. I will, when I have a little time, send a snail mail complaint as well.

We were there with 3 DSLR cameras, 7 lenses and three laptops. I'm just ill at ease with the thought that my property could have been left in the room and the room open. Chris Petro (the guy running about with the HUGE 400mm lens) says he doesn't worry as his equipment is insured. So is mine; however, you can't replace the photos and other information taken with the hardware. Like they say in the Master Card ads -- priceless.

WOW... that is fantastic Vax... I am so glad, since the kid had just bought the darn thing... He could have left a note though DOH!

In any case, leaving the door ajar by the cleaning staff is not acceptable; and a managerial reprimand is in order.... someone should either be thrown to the floor or get their head nailed to the floor.... DINSDALE!

Wasn't it David Bowie who said..."the bitter sounds better on a stolen guitar".

Re: ROSfest stolen guitar

Whew! Glad that it turned out OK. Glad you guys took all your laptops and camera equipment out of there for the day, too.

I had a blast at ROSFest, and it was great to see everyone - we had a small army of Mooninites there, and I think that the yearly turnout will just get larger and larger. KW and RM - it was great to FINALLY meet you guys, and share a pint or two. Next time you guys come over, we'll take a tour of New Jersey's picturesque natural gas plants, and we'll make sure you see Delaware. And then quickly leave.

Glenside Village is an awesome little hamlet - I hope ROSFest stays there for years to come. But with better sound! Big kudos to the giant vegetarian subs at the nearby sandwich shop. Yum!

Re: ROSfest stolen guitar

I'm glad the guitar turned up but it's still a bit off that the room was open for him to retrieve it. Also the kid should have left a note. Maybe you should mention that to George when you next speak to him.

It is a known fact that Paris Hilton has the golden Master key that will unlock every room in the Hilton chain.

Maybe she stopped by.... ... you missed your turn.
