A few suggestions

A few of my favorites that would fit on AM -

Echolyn "As The World"
Discipline "Unfolded Like Staircase" & "Push and Profit"
Minimum Vital "Sarabandes"
Manfred Mann "Nightingales & Bombers"

Good to see some Finch on there!

Unfolded is a prog-lover's must-have. One listen will do it!

Thumbs up You've done it again......

"Unfolded like Carpet" is on it's way to the KW household.

Looking around the net for the others but can't find anyone who'll ship to the UK.

Any ideas where to look?

Hopefully you mean Unfolded Like Staircase! Warning: do not listen the CD in the dark - it may cause permanent damage. The lyrics are very interesting. Discipline also has a live CD recorded at Orion. Push and Profit I'm not sure where to get.

If you havent, try the Echolyn website. Then hit contact to see what they can do for you. Their stuff is going out of print fast. I'm sure the first CD (very proggy) is out of print. That would be a great pickup. Generally agreed as their best work is Suffocating the Bloom (you'll find that on AM). I am partial to As The World, and is in my top ten records - ever. Mei (released last year) is good, and Cowboy Poems free is average. There are also some spinoff CD's (Still, Always Almost) that are OK (not great).

Minimum Vital is not that well known to me - I just have the one CD - since there are a couple tunes on AM, someone else may be more up on them. They are French.

What's the deal on the Manfred Mann? I know we discussed it in another post, and you are a Good Earth man, but no N&B?

Let me know if I can help anymore.

Yep!! I did mean "Staircase". Thanks for the pointers Rick. I'll check them out.

As for M.M.E.B. I do indeed already have Nightingales..... a truly exceptional album. Did you ever manage to get Solar fire by the way?

Solar Fire et al

No, but I better. I don't spend much anymore on CD's, and I'm out of work temporarily (as one may have guessed due to the my high # of posts), but there are some I need to catch up on. Solar Fire will be my first pickup.

On the subject of mid-70's stuff, I was listening to Tommy Bolin's "Teaser" and "Private Eyes" recently. Have you ever heard them or do you own them? I pull them out about once a year and play them. Same with Montrose's "Open Fire".

Echolyn - As The World should be in the next upload to the station
Discipline - sounds great - I'll check 'em out
Minimum Vital - I've been thinking I wanted to add some more of them anyway, so I'll get a hold of Sarabandes
MMEB - N+B - probably....

Well I ordered Discipline's "Unfolded Like Staircase", from Laser's Edge, but it didn't arrive. They'll do that, leave anything that's not in stock off of your order and ship the rest. I think it's a ploy, because if you're going to pay for shipping, you might as well get a handful of CDs - so now I have to reorder Discipline, and I'll probably add a few more selections to the order. Looks like some overtime coming up!

Administrative garbage

ain't it grand? I'm looking forward to seeing it when it comes, along with "As The World" so I can request them on unsuspecting
ears.

Thanks for all your work.

Discipline.

I'm glad we're going to get "Staircase". It arrived at chez Waye a while back and is on in the car constantly at the moment.

BTW: Check out Magenta as well. They sound pretty good too.

Solar Fire.

Did you have any luck finding this one Rick?

E-Mail me your address and I'll ship a copy over to you if you want. I'll cut you one first and get the bone fide version if you like it.

Same goes for you jim.

MMEB

I saw that they're on tour on Europe with the California Guitar Trio! Weird.

Last time I was out, I looked for it, and was not successful. I also was looking for Tormato (I had recently realized that I only own it on vinyl!!!). Same thing. I'm not a techno wiz, so I never burn stuff, just do without.

Yeah sure, I'll do that - thanks!

As I mentioned it on the shoutbox, Magenta has arrived at chez progdirjim, and should be on AM soon. good stuff.

I also received "Solar Fire" today Keith, thanks. I'm listening to it right now, and I have to say, I like it better than "Good Earth" - more progressive, and it seems like a more mature work - is it chronologically later than GE? I can check, but it's late, I'm lazy, and you probably know.

Nightingales and Bombers is due here any day now, as well...

MMEB

It's Solar Fire, Good Earth, then N+B.

I still need to hear Solar Fire, and Good Earth (which I have) is indeed more "straightforward". N+B is awesome, especially if you get past the Springsteen cover "Spirit In the Night" (which I think is great). There's a track on there "Visionary Mountains" which is a sonic treat. The title cut is as proggy as they get (except for the great "Sky High" off of Good Earth").
