Fun? Serious? who cares, let's play!

Just for grins & giggles, with a soupcon of seriousness, I'd like to get inside the heads of my fellow proggies. If you wanna play, plz visit:

http://www.politicalcompass.org/

Take the test, then PM me your results (rounded to whole numbers) and screen name. I'll start pasting the results together on a master chart located at:

http://www.hawkfeather.com/images/am...calcompass.gif

Could be enlightening! Could be frightening! Could be fun! (Yes, I know, it's very US-centric)

I think that this is a good idea, but I'm not sure it should use our names. perhaps just put the dots where we rate, and see what kind of pattern emerges?

Economic Left/Right: -8.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.54

graph

This is a bit interesting because, when asked, I probably would have said that I were more authoritarian. I think my choosiness as to what types authority should and shouldn't be allowed basically shows me to be against the general idea of authority, but in reality I am only against kinds of authority while at the same time supporting others. It all just depends on the exact nature of it and what the policies are. Therefore, I choose authority when wielding power, but I choose against it when subjected to it.

I find it difficult to imagine correctly maintaining a leftist economy without strong authoritarian structures in place to keep it from degrading to capitalism.

Edit: Feel free to use my name.

I'm probably opening a can of worms I shouldn't, but: You're right, strong force is needed to maintain a leftist economy since it is essentially slave labor and I, like most productive people, refuse to be a slave.

What don't you like about true laissez-faire capitalism?

When it fails.

Anyway, I could probably write a lot of things and theorize on and on just how a system ought or ought not be constructed, but I don't want to do that right now. If I ever produce any formal writings, you can read first and judge later!

This thing put me in the dead center on economic left/right, but I'm about as pro-capitalism as it gets. All this anti-trust talk about Microsoft.. Bah. Apple's out there, and it's only a matter of time until someone builds a better mouse trap. The thing that skewed it left for my results are the fact that I'm very much for helping the disadvantaged, but it should be voluntary/religious/moral based, rather than forced on people to give. We have a responsibility to those with less, but our hearts need renewing rather than our hands being tied.

Small government, free market, free press, Locke's free marketplace of ideas = free society.

Pretty accurate test!!!!!!

Economic Left/Right: -5.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.13

Shows why I have a lot of regard for the likes of Ghandi, Mandela and the Dalai Lama.

Feel free to put my name on your chart my friend. I'm kind of proud to be in the company of these people.

lump me in with Rogor and Keith

but not quite as far as roger!

Economic mumbo jumbo -4.00
Social hootenany -2.92

Always been a leftist, but I agree with capital punishment. Thought I'd be a top left instead of a Ghandi-type.

It's a misnomer that you have to be a right-winger to embrace discipline.

An intersting quiz, but I'm not politically in tune to know what it means, really.

Now the briggs Myers, that's a good one. And for those of you familiar, I'm an ESTJ (couldn't you tell)!

Oh and Keynesian economics rules!

I think there's an error in Moses position in the graph...

Perhaps I will do it once again, although there are some questions I don't understand...
