Anyone With Upload Requests???

Hey Moonies,

I can take some time to rip and upload some CDs to enhance your playlist, and I have Jim's permission to upload anything I own pending approval by the management.

Since you guys are more everyday listeners than I am, you are more intimate with the playlist and what is permeating too much, and what is lacking.

So please, use this thread to request some material to upload. I currently DJ the new show Interzone and was a DJ on Gnosis Radio last year. If you are familiar with those shows, you know we tend to play obscure, out of print, vinyl only, and/or diverse material and have a lot of that on hand.

What I personally think the playlist could use more of is non-English/US prog from the 70s. There seems to be plenty of "classics" and lots of new releases.

Anyway, I figured I could help out a little bit.

- Cozy

Hi Cozy,

Exciting!

I love jazzy/ambient crossover stuff. Is it prog...who knows, but I think so.

Off the top of my head...

Eberhard Weber. You played him on Gnosis last year and it was a treat. Fluid Rustle, Colours of Chloe and if you actually have Yellow Fields..wow. As far as I know that's only avail on vinyl. I really miss my copy.

Oregon

Ralph Towner

Paul Winter, Paul Winter Consort.

As I think of more, I'll post them.

Congrats on your new show.

re: requests

Hey Mossy -

Looks like you're an ECM fan. There will be an all-ECM show in two weeks. It's already mapped out and guess what?!? - I was going to play material from Yellow Fields.

Unfortunately I only have Eberhard Weber's Yellow Fields on vinyl (the CD copy is quite rare). I do have Chloe and about 4 others on CD and the rest on vinyl.

Same thing with Oregon. Some of the best Oregon is very difficult to find and I have on vinyl only. But I do have about 5 on CD and can rip something there.

I have Paul Winter Consort - Icarus on CD.

I have most of the cool Towner stuff on CD as well. I'll make sure to get to a few.

Thanks for the input.

- Cozy

I like Yzoc 's

i like the "Ghost" stuff...Yzoc ...snuck in after your show played. see my comment from the avant show thread i name, names...i've definite leanings toward avant & ambient stuff, jazzy or orchestral.

could you let us know what you add via the same thread as roger?

i'll dig thru some of your shows and see what i've taken note of.

I know it's not that Jazzy but......

Cravinkel
Ghost and
Captain Beyond.

I went out and bought the CDs immediately when I heard them on gnosis and play them a lot. Would be good to hear them on the Moon from time to time.

no time to look at this today

work, etc. but I have a ton of stuff uploaded.....please let me know what is meant by this post. All I need to do is move the songs to "S" status.

If I'm reading this correctly, I can post what I've uploaded and the Moonies can pick what they want.

ex: Hidria Spacefolk probably OK (live at Nearfest), but Ram Jam no

The Spacious Mind was played on Gnosis. Not sure if it was you or one of the other guys.

Heck, I'd say upload one album per week that you think should be here, let Jim get to it on his own time-table, and then he can choose from your personal library. For example, I've sent many things I thought he'd jump on - "Heck yeah I'm adding this!" - only to have him say "no way." Conversely, I've sent stuff as afterthoughts thinking he'd never add it, and he loved it, like the punk/jazz Woe and guitar-guru Tony Palacios. So I'd say, if you think that's it's even an outside possibility, send it on, and let Jim decided. We've all got different ideas as to what should and should not be on AM, but Jim's is the only one's that count!!!

ditto what yspaz said

any item i've requested Cozy is by all means subject to stamp and approval by the Grand Officer Jim, wouldn't have it any other way.

I would just inform Jim and Roger that you have stuff pending their approval.

It was not me, but noted.

I have one Ghost and the first CB album. Noted.

I'll get to a few of these, but it's Jim/Roger that have the final say to what gets implemented. I merely have the ability to help out.

Been away, Cozy, or would have responded sooner.

Will make supreme effort to tune in to ECM show. Can't believe you planned to play Yellow Fields

Along the same synchronistic line...I had dug out Icarus and was playing same, then you mention it in your response.

thanks for all..

Heh. Yep. I thought it would be a great one to feature. I'll be playing all of side one. FYI, I also uploaded Colours Of Chloe for management approval.

re: Yellow Fields

Heh. Thanks Mossy. Though until I can find it for a decent price (sometimes ECM does repress), I'll have to stick with my vinyl copy.

thanks for the uploads guys. Can I make a few requests?

Rip at 192K, not 128K (nor at that accursed VB
Organize folders - artist name at top, album title(s) below that
If the artist is a single person, label it last name, first name

these make it easier on me. (and avoiding VBR makes it easier on the station - SAM seems to choke on that sometimes)

Thanks!

Hey Jim. I'm very much afk but I assume you got mine. The folder thing is easy to do, no problem. The ripping thing...I'm a novice, so if I need to change it maybe you can send me an email sometime and I'll fix it. Have a feeling that there will be two more on the way after the next Rickter Scale

switching to 192K should be easy, but it depends on what you're using to rip. In EAC (what I use), it's in "Compression options" under the EAC menu. In real player, it's in "Select A Quality Level" under "tools":"preferences":"CD"; etc...

re: Uploads

I uploaded about a dozen albums. I believe all (or all but one maybe) were CBR 192. Most had the band folder > album folder format.

Where I realize I was lax was not going in and renaming all the tracks with "artist name-song name" as opposed to "track #-song name".

Also, once you rip it at 192k mp3, it's helpful (right, Jim?) to go ahead and to the "ID3v2 Tag" complete with artist name, album title, song title, and year. That way if Jim decides to add it it's ready to go. All that'd be missing is the album cover, which I can handle quickly.

actually, most of what was there was fine. I think one album was VBR, and Rick's were at 128K. Most if not all of the MP3 tags were fine. The Embryo and Alquin didn't have the album sub-folders.

Hope I didn't sound too whiny, I was just feeling a little overwhelmed with my baker's dozen CD shipment from Mellow records, the uploads, and a few stray artist submissions...
