One Month of Shows...
Happy New Year folks. The last month has been pretty good concertwise in Central NY.
It started out in with Jon Anderson at the Turning Stone casino. A very cozy place where you sit at tables and just relax and enjoy. The show was an incredible mix of his solo and Yes material as well as some humorous and poignant tales. As always, he was in great voice and he had the crowd in the palm of his hands. After the show he came out to the merchandise table and shook hands, signed autographs and had pictures taken with anyone who wanted. I see now, what you see on stage is what you get in person. Just a very nice person doing what he loves, making music and making people happy in doing so.
Next up, Styx two days later. No, not the Styx of AM but still a group that can still play some very good music. Took my two teenage girls for their birthdays, sat up front and had a blast. As usual with Styx, a very good show with a lot of interaction with the fans.
Then finally, Trans Siberian Orchestra Dec 29.....all I can say is, if you haven't seen them, you should try to the next time they are near your town. It was one of the best concerts I have ever seen. Incredible light show, great musicianship and above all, a very classy bunch of people. Three hours of entertainment that just about anyone could get in to regardless of your musical tastes.....money well spent. To top it off, they do a meet and greet after the show and are as cordial a group as one could meet. Autographs, photos, hugs, they basically do what ever made the waiting fans happy. It was a show that I will hopefully see again next year.
Now CNY goes in to its winter doldrums of nothing on the horizon musically........Oh, Billy Joel is on his way but I believe I have to do laundry that night.
