Old School Synthesis (and the basic physics of music) 101:

I found this in the on screen links after watching the TD link mailo posted above. I couldn't help giggling watching this "educational" video from way back when. Check out them 8" floppies! Scary thing is I remember using 8" floppies. Talk about a lot of work to make a bit of music! Also check out the paper terminal! Ahhh those were the (bad old) days! There are 3 parts to the video, the other two can be found in the list to the right of the player in youtube. Enjoy (or not)! Maybe I shoulda posted this in the "sciences" thread LOL. Still, even though it makes me giggle watching people using the old technology (how 'bout them specialized controller gizmos woot!), it's pretty amazing what people were able to do with them back then. Tons of work though, not to mention lugging all that gear around.

P.S. I might be mistaken, but FWIW I think the synth they show is similar to what Pete Townshend used to do Baba O'Reilly. Also note that bass line the light pen guy at the end of part 3 plays in his little composition/jam is ripping off a section of the key bass in Star Cycle by Jeff Beck from There & Back, you'd think a film composer could come up with his own bass line, or maybe Jeff ripped him off LOL!
