Lightbulb Some heavier stuff...

I´m loving the music i´m listening here, but there are a couple of bands i would like to listen in AM:
  • Band: Fates Warning
  • Albums: Perfect Symmetry, A pleasant shade of grey, Disconnected, X
  • Band: Symphony X
  • Albums: Twilight in Olympus, The Odyssey, V: The new mythology suite, The divine wings of tragedy.
  • Band: Angra
  • Albums: Holy Land, Angels Cry, Fredom Call
  • Band: Tool
  • Albums: Aenima, Lateralus, 10000 days, (Undertow)

I know these bands play heavy stuff (specially Tool) and that even some people don´t consider them to be prog. I also know heavy music is also more difficult to schedule, because not everyone likes to wake up or go to bed along with some heavy tunes, but one thing i love from the station is the variety and these bands would contribute to that

Greetings and thanks for all the great music!

Hi edca,

Very timely since I just went to a Symphony X show, but could only stay for the four bands prior (the venue schedules poorly).

I agree that Fates Warning, Tool, and most Iron Maiden is totally progressive. The only difference is the heaviness. Only.

But I don't think you will see any of it on the Moon. Sometimes I will play them on my show (in the past year I spun Lateralus and 10,000 Days) but there's just not the majority needed to make it a part of the Moon playlist.

There are many other progressive internet staions that play that music. The tradeoff is though, their library is far inferior.

I don't think the floodgates will be open soon, but as that subgenre continues to develop, maybe sometime.

Re: Some heavier stuff...

I enjoyed the recent Symphony X, but I would not consider it for the moon. It's much more heavy metal and just not enough of the symphonic side to include with progressive.

I am a total Tool fan, but again, the same thing. They are certainly much closer to the progressive side, however. And I certainly would not mind a few of their pieces slipping into the rotation.

I haven't heard the other bands. But with a name like Angra.... hmm do you think they're angry?

Even Mastadon which has made it on some progressive lists or stations is just too hard. We're still working to get more Dream Theater in the library. It's a tough nut to crack. You know how us old foogies can be about what we like once we're stuck on something.

Thanks for the suggestions for some side listening, though. I like all sorts of stuff other than what I hear on the AM.
