Testing New Software

We're testing spiffy new streaming software. Please post any new problems, or change in sound quality, good or bad.

Thanks,

Avian

The Windows Media stream is back up, too... we'l see how it goes (hopefully it will not crash our computers!)

I don't know if this has anything to do with the change or not. Every five minutes or so my volume suddenly drops off and I have to turn it back up. This keeps happening until my volume reaches its maximum value, and eventually I can't hear anything. As a matter of fact, it just happened again right now. The only thing that seems to drop in volume is the radio stream. Everything else on my computer retains its proper volume levels.

Yeah, it's a software bug. I thought I reset it though - I'm going to restart it and hopefully it should go back to normal. Let me know if it doesn't.

I still can't request properly... it appears to let me request an unlimited amount of songs without complaining, but none of them appear on the playlist. Am I the only one having this problem?

Sorry - I should've mentioned this before - requests are down - we are working on making a new website with the request features.

BUT, as a trusted listener, all forum parfticipants are welcome to use the new, not-ready-for-primetime website at

http://www.auralmoon.com/samweb/index.php

to get a now playing window, and make requests that actually work.

Let me know of any problems.

The new page looks Ok, but it's work in progress, I guess. The "coming up" feature is great.

As regards the requests I actually have mixed feelings. During the time when the requests didn't work there was a more varied mix of songs, which is good e.g. in the sense that you then can discover new music you haven't heard before. In the best of worlds where people's musical preferences are varied, the music that comes out of the requests is varied. But the world isn't like that, not even the 'world' that makes up the Aural Moon listeners.

I do not suggest that you remove the request feature; I've just realized that the effect of this feature is not 100% positive from the listenser's point of view if you like to find new music or just plain appreciate variation.

Again, the page's looks aren't important - I haven't made it part of our home page look yet. It's actually been done for some time, but I didn't want to put it open to the general public because of its looks. But I know you guys miss your requests.

I don't think you'll notice very much difference, since we follow DCMA request and broadcast rules, which:

Delays any request for 60 minutes

In any three hours, not more than three songs (and not more than two songs in the tow) from teh same recording. Not more than four songs(and not more than three songs in a row) from the same artist or anthology.

I think it's a plus, since if you want to discover new music, find the band you're interested in , and make that request!
