Rickter Scale Show 207 - "Almost Top 10 of 2008"

airing Sunday, December 21 from 8-11 PM EST and Monday, December 22, from 1-4 PM EST

This week is a final retrospective of 2008, but in a different manner. I've played my top 10 from this year throughout the year, and by this weekend I will post my picks on my myspace. But for this show I thought I would play some music by bands that may be in many others' lists, but did not quite make my top 10. However, there's some fascinating stuff here.

California Guitar Trio - Echoes
Brother Ape - Immortal
Combination Head - Liquid
Dream Machine - Happy Dragon
Edensong - The Prayer
Moon Safari - Yasgur's Farm
Van der Graaf Generator - Lifetime
Talisma - L'Aube
Karmakanic - Eternally (Pt.s 1 & 2)
Gongzilla - French Grass
The Healing Road - The Green Caves
Mostly Autumn - Above the Blue
Tangent - A Sale of Two Souls
Pete Laramee - Red Rocks
Lisa LaRue - Transformed
Isotope - Crunch Cake
Abel Ganz - Sheepish
Tomas Bodin - An Ocean In Between
Mahogany Frog - You're Meshugah!
Mahogany Frog - I Am Not Your Sugar
Uli Jon Roth - Stay In The Light

Some of these I've not heard, and a few are some favorite songs from this year. The performance of "Echoes" at 3RP at CGT may be the single best thing I've ever seen live.

A little treat - from a disc that was given to me, recorded live in Cleveland OH:

"11/8/08 An Evening of Progressive Music Innovation"

Tiles - Sacred and Mundane
Tiles - Back and Forth
Rick Ray Band - There's Always A Catch
Slick Flux - Monokini

To take us home, from the Gentle Giant-inspired "A Reflection" disc:

Tomas Stark - Wood Nymphs

Please remember to vote by xmas at the latest. I'll play a repeat of the top 20 show on Jan 4 and 5. But next week, some random but hopefully impressive music. Merry Christmas!

so this would also double as the birthday show? OH, and by the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!... I put it here. I didn't want to steal KW's thunder, he is the official B day posting guy you know.

Thanks Rick.
Good selection for me, they exactly do rick & roll and rock & roll.

Today I listened before work. You could let me more active.
