SoCal Musicians???

This has got to be a complete crapshoot, but there really aren't many places to ask this AFAIK:

In short, I really would like to find people to develop some sort of Krautrock/psych-rock/electronic band.

My background:
-I was previously a sound engineer for 3 years (both live and studio)
-I have practiced with various instruments, but I'm likely strongest with drums and bass guitar (so yeah I'm better with pushing the pulse than pulling out solo melodies.)
-I also used to work in college radio, so I have had a strong interest in real alternative music from the 1980's (not that Billboard sh#t.)
-I guess I should also mention what I've been listening to lately:
Background/don't give a crap/angry: SECRETS OF THE MOON, DEATHSPELL OMEGA, OLD WAINDS, etc.
In love with the world/into listening to music: ASH RA TEMPEL, (early!!!!) PINK FLOYD, U.K., Steve Roach, etc.
-I'm in Orange County (for another year maybe?) I could be moving to Denver since I am getting fed up with this region. Please!

In general what I'm looking to do is:
-Create a more modern version of Krautrock/psych music without being overly derivative
-get a lock-out room, and just write, record, practice, write, record, practice, practice, practice
-I could give a crap if I make $$$ or sell more than a couple of records, but ya know...
