AM top 20

How about a chart show? AM Top 20. Where listners could vote for their favorites, via a forum thread or something. A round up once a month with reruns once a week ? Saw this Idea at www.progradio.com and it's quite fun.

Just a thought

Oh, I don't know. I can see the direction the top 20 would take - Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, ELP, Spock's Beard, yawn...

what do you all think? anyway we can put some parameters on it to keep it interesting - like banning certain bands, or focusing on a theme...

American.........top 40!

Good old Kasey Casem. I remember listening to an old transistor radio to that. Still can't believe "Trampled Underfoot" made it to # 37.

On a serious note (oh no he's slipping) the Gagliarchives does the top 100 of the year.

I agree with Jim........

It's likely to be all of those bands and more.....like Rush, Renaissance and (recently) Tangent.

Don't get me wrong I love all those bands but they're played regularly and to get a show where they're likely to be played even more would be a bit daft.

How about resurrecting the idea of a personal show of music you've discovered by listening to AM?

Mine would include Discipline, Chaos Code and Iluvatar (Thanks to Rick), Ryo Okomoto, Niacin and others.

Could be fun hearing what others have discovered.

agree with the Brit

I really like the new and forgotten stuff I hear on Gnosis and Prog Shores - especially the Latin and European music. A rehash of played songs would be counterproductive and cut into that time allocated.

And it would be difficult to set a time to do a "countdown" because of the global nature of the listeners.

What's the counterpart in Britian, Keith, is it "Top of the Pops" or something like that?

In addition to the brits comments ...

Add Appleseed Cast (thanks Yesspaz) and I'll listen.

I like this idea as an alternative to the top 40 thing.

Top of the Pops is S**T these days. all Boy Bands and Krap Rap.

It's just celebrated 40 years on the air and it used to be good.

BTW: "agree with the Brit" I'm going to pour myself a drink on that one man.

Doesn't happen too often.

AM Discovery

I agree with Keith. It would be a great idea to have a personal discovery show. Mine would feature: Birdsongs, Aftert Tea, Jade Warior, Can, Kaipa and.......DT of course (just joking)
