Thumbs up Novalis albums

Hello there.
I´m hereagain making my asking for Novalis songs in AM. Why makeme back to put this new thread? I because all the mooners is missing some of the most respectable progressive rock from seventies. Novalis is from Germany, and beside Neu!, Jane, Anyone´s Daughter, Sfumatto, Ramses, Gila and Grobsnichtt form something that I call the roots of the german progressive rock.
To whom may concern, Novalis also was a name of the romantic poet Friedrich von Hardenberg - (1772 - 1801), and beside Schiller and Göethe. he was created some masterpieces, as "Himns to the Night". (www.logopoeia.com/novalis/index.html)

So the Novalis band was inspired in the poetry of the romantic artist. Formed in 1971, they disbanded after its 7th album. So, I can tell you with all the surely: They was produced very good things, as "Es färbte Sich die wiese Grün" and "Impressionen" (Novalis-1975) and "Sommerabend" (Sommerabend-1976). Right sayd my friend zambinha,(www.soundchaser.com.br) I make mine his words:
Sommerabend, is undeniable ones of the bests, and can be the best album of the german progressive rock that I´ve heard. It´s a five stars that stays close to the perfection in the genre. With wonderful arrangements and excellent instrumentally, the band can to expose in single three songs its all grandiosity.
The development of the themes have constants variations, and by this form it can´t boring the listener, who can be surprising itself all the time. Even the german vocals, don´t take away its bright and its preciosity. The composition is wonderful, and the beautiness of the introduction of "Wunderschätze" is impressive. If you can listen, they use too much the Ré minor note ( D ) making the music melancholic however very wonderful! There´s not intrincated melodies, the beauty is in the simplicity. The "Sommerabend" suite is excellent. Its melodies in minor tones is simple beautiful. The mellotron is "a lá germanica", giving us the sensation to be in some folk german party, mainly is the first track. This track, "Aufbruch", is "the progressive". It´s a instrumental to varying in 5 tempo, that it repeats at least 1 time each one. It´s a show of melodic harmony, and the theme is varing in the right time, don´t being boring. Lutz Rahn, the keyboardist execute a harmonic progression in descendent movement during the execution of others instruments. The theme that end the song is the same of the begin: It´s funny!!
Higly recommended! This album must to be in the colection of all the progsters who like the genre. The germans mooners don´t let me lie, as Podakayne, no?
So please, who knows this album or band, give me a vote in the Music Sugestion sector!

Hugs, Vanila

Surprised that one one responded so I will. Novalis came around towards the mid 1970's from Germany. features great playing at least on the one album I have called Brandung. I know part of the reason maybe that their albums are difficult to find but will worth it.

Talking hey

I know them in some friend´s store, near my home. Brandung is very nice, so Sommerabend is the best. check out this link: www.silverdb.com ...it´s a veeery good site, there was that I knew Aural Moon. There´s no direct link to the Novalis page, so you can find in the "N" letter on its database.
Man, I´m young but I´m a little prospector. I aways listened traditional heavy metal, my second passion today. But I have fall in love by the progressive! I like Eloy, to...did you know them?

yes ElOY very good very diverse band. start with Ocean or Dawn if you can. My own suggestion is too keep tuned to Aural Moon. Floating is pretty good too. I keep a note bad when I listen to AM and write down the songs and bands. That is the easiest thing to do.
