![]() Go ahead, break my wallet!!! I've been doing site searches, Amazon listening, and Moon listening. Here's what I'm looking for. I recently purchased Galleon: Land/Ocean and Tantalus: Jubal and Il.... I really loved them both. The guitarists were right up my alley, as one of my favorite styles is that of Andy Lattimer / Camel and the song "Ice". His notes literally sent chills down my spine. The Tantalus and Galleon vocals were, in my taste, excellent....not too dramatic, but emotional to fit the music. I've heard some similar music, but all killed by the vocals. As for guitar playing and style, I have also found "Odyssice", "Collage", and Satellite" to be right to my liking as well. Looking for recommendations for new music in this style.

A side note
I cannot say anything on those particular bands. There's, however, this thread that might help you on something else in the future:
"if you like X, try Y..." http://www.auralmoon.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1386 Unfortunately it's one of those many threads where only like 1/5 of the posts actually really stay on topic. ![]() -Methem Last edited by Methem : 05-07-2006 at 12:26 PM. |

Thanks Methem.......I read thru..it appears it's too risky to make open recs like that. I guess, it's best to just listen for stuff.

Re: Looking for recommendations on similar groups...
I don't know what you already have, but try:
IQ- Dark Matter RPWL- The World Through My Eyes (or any other one) Transatlantic - any Spock's Beard - V Pendragon - The Masquerade Overture Arena - Pepper's Ghost The Tangent - The Music that died Alone Pallas - The dreams of Men Magic Pie- The Motions of Desire Jack Foster III - Evolution of the Jazzraptor or Raptorgnosis. If you want some some heavier stuff, I have other to recommend. Also if you like Jethro Tull, do yourself a favor and pick up Ian Anderson's solo cd 'Rupi's Dance'. You'll thank me for that one. If you already have these, let me know and I'll suggest others. |

Re: Looking for recommendations on similar groups...
OK,............THANKS!!! Not sure if you saw in the "shout", so I'll repeat. I have TRANSATLANTIC: Neal Morse: Trans Demos, Live in USA, Europe and 2 studio CD's....You're right on there. I have Octane, V, and 2 other Spock's Beard.......right on there. Magic Pie.......Love it!!! The others you listed I need more info on. I've heard some Tangent, RPWL, IQ, and Arena......but what little I heard, though the music was what I like, the vocals I heard turned me off. I've never heard a whole CD, so I'd say my perception of them is in question. Pendragon: I heard 1 song and liked everything, but haven't heard anymore. Jack Foster III, I read the Amazon review, but never heard any of them. So, any further recs or info on these would be appreciated. Thanks, Rob

Hey Rick it took you all of 15 seconds to respond to that. Of course your opinion is different than mine. What do you think the best band of this decade is and what is the best cd of the decade? Or should we do this in another forum topic?

Re: Looking for recommendations on similar groups...
Your gonna hate me after this next link. Have you heard of progarchives? Didn't think so. You can research any prog band and a lot of them have songs posted you can listen to so you don't have to wait 60 minutes for an aural moon RQ.

Progarchives is excellent, but most of the time (especially for newer bands) it only has one or two entries. You may also want to Google the band name and look at at least three reviews. Artists websites are also good... |
