More Roxy Music

AM seems to have the 3rd and 4th Roxy albums covered, but there's plenty of stuff that belongs here from the others, particularly "For Your Pleasure." Individual tracks from the first album, "Siren," the first live album, "Avalon," and "Heart Still Beating" would also fit well here.

Thumbs up Wonderful post black Max.

It's been a while since I even THOUGHT about RM, but haveing done so I wonder why we only have albums 3 and 4 to pick from.

The first two albums are amazing in that, at the time, Bryan Ferry's voice came across as SO different and the musical mix so WIERD that we all just disapeared in a cloud of "Smoke" and wondered why no-one had done it before.

Ladytron was a revelation and who didn't DO THE STRAND?????

Actually. Does anyone know what THE STRAND is????

Answers on a postcard please.

I loved Roxy Music live but like so many of the bands we love here on AM they...........................Hey I'm not going to start another Queen, Prog??? type discussion here.

I think Davin might BAN me from the site if I did.

I must give up these Nights in White Satin, man!

Love to you all!!!!!

Manzanera

Diamond Head and some of the other solo records are good for AM, too.

I have "Avalon", not sure why I haven't added it - it's one of my favorite Roxy albums, although maybe it's a little less prog. As far as others, I'll put them on the list!

I'm sure there are people here who think I'm paid too much.

Portugal was great - my first time there, and I liked it a lot. Great weather, nice scenery, people, towns, good wine, decent food - what more could you ask for?

Eddie Jobson

As a keyboardist, I love most of what I have heard from Mr Jobson. I also heard about a new UK session about a year ago. Tony Levin, Bruford, Wetton among others. Anyone know anything about this?

Also, I know Eddie played with UK, ZINC, ROXY but can anyone tell me what other bands he was in. I know there is a group called Curved Air also.

He WAS in Curved Air for a while. The first album of theirs he played on was "AirCut". The 10-minute epic 'Metamorphosis', co-written by Jobson and featuring some of his finest keyboard playing, is the reason to own this one. 'Armin' spotlights his violin playing and is likewise excellent.

He was also in Jethro Tull for a while on their album "A" which is a bit of a Tull sleeper. I think it has some of their best songs on it esp. 'Working John, Working Joe'.

He appeared in Yes for a while. I'm not sure if he played on the album "90125" but he is definitely in the video for 'Owner of a lonely heart' - you can see him in the background. Perhaps some other AM posters could enlighten me on this...........Yesspaz where are you????

Hope that helps.

Eddie

there's another post that discusses Jobson with Yes - very informative.

He really added a dimension to Tull similar to what P.J. Vetesse did (another great keyboardist). However, the video he's in with tull doing Aqualung (an early MTV favorite) was hilarious. They were all dressed in the "A" uniforms, and he looked so out of place.

His solo on Presto Vivace and Reprise is just incredible.

You might be thinking of the Steve Hackett sessions where he did some old Genesis songs with Levin, Bruford, Wetton, and other stalwarts. And there's a couple of UK live bootlegs making the rounds. Other than that, I don't know of any plans to reform UK any time soon. There were rumors from 1997 or so that Jobson and Wetton were getting UK back together again, with Bruford and Holdsworth participating on an ad hoc basis, but as far as I know, that never bore fruit. Wetton has his own band that is going on tour sometime soon. Bruford is still touring with Earthworks. Don't know what Jobson, Holdsworth, and Bozzio are doing.

That's probably because he is SO much younger than the others. I remember the "A" tour pretty well. They were playing the Royal Albert Hall in London and when they appeared in the White Overalls I cracked up. One thing you can never say about Tull are that they ever stay the same. Anderson apologised for the band being late (15 minutes) explaining the Eddie had thrown a fit back stage because he couldn't find his Make up bag!!!

Is the video you're talking about "Slipstream"? I have a copy of that somewhere in the vaults. I'll have to give it another viewing.
