Don't Mess with Mighty Thor!*

{This story needs a soundtrack}

For those of you around Friday afternoon, you witnessed me learning a valuable lesson. Stuck at work at the end of the afternoon, surrounded by rather vigorous thunderstorms in the north Atlanta area, I was communing with our fellow moon buds in the Shout box. The storms grew more intense and the lightening crept closer and closer. One time it knocked out our power temporarily. The storm subsided a little and power returned. Still alone and stranded I returned to the Moon for the safety of my comrades company. (insert the sound of a chicken clucking here)

Finding comfort again was not so easy as the storms began to rage once again. Here is where I made my mistake. In the Shout, I implored, in perhaps too authoritative a manner, that the Almighty Thor cease and desist, and choose another target for his lightning toss.

The "request" had not been posted but 5 seconds when a lighting bolt of enormous weight struck about 200 feet away from the building I was in. This, of course, silenced my request quite thoroughly, but also took out the power in several surrounding neighborhoods. What other recourse had I but to immediately surrender to his Almighty power and retract my request. "Have away where you will, I implored. I surrender to you!"

Well, while the storm did not subside, it did lighten and slowly move on it's way. Now, I sit here, shaken, yet alive, to tell the tale of how Thor vanquished OverHillandDale. It really wasn't a fair fight, though. He has such cool weapons. And heck, I'm mortal.

Now, all this story needs is a soundtrack. Any suggestions? (Maxwell's silver hammer need not apply)

*This story is an accounting of a 'spiritual' experience by the author. Any resemblence of character names to any known or unknown persons (either real or fictional) is purely coincidental.

I'm glad you're OK OHD. That sounds pretty scarey to me!!!!

Musicwise I'd play the storm scene from Beethoven's 6th Symphony (Pastoral).

As for messing with Thor........having experienced his "socialising" skills, I'd suggest that you desist from messing with our Bostonian friend. It can play havok with your ability to walk in a straight line.

It's a good thing I didn't stand on the porch and shake my fists at the sky.

He would have nailed me right between the eyes.

Glad everything is fine.

I poured here in Mexico too, and part of our storage room got flooded. I would have liked to be inside, but it caught me on my way home.
Just remember to not tempt the gods, cause they can do away with us with less than a sneeze.

Well take care....
Watch out for those bolts..

Re: Don't Mess with Mighty Thor!*

Glad you're OK Dale. We were held at work Friday until 6:45 due to tornadoes touching down in the area and were also witness to Thor throwing lightning bolts around, so if it's any consolation he wasn't just flinging them at you. Seems like he was just generally being a bad boy Thursday & Friday, 500,000 people lost power in Chicago, some for days. Here in Detroit I lost my internet connection until sometime Saturday and apparently some tornado damage was done in the area.

I was worring on you JTM when I saw the damage reports and photos for the Detroit area on Friday Nights news. Glad to hear you and yours are okay.

Perhaps it's time to sacrifice a virgin or something.

I am glad you are OK OHD, my suggestion for you would be 'Thunder and Lightning' by ELO, from The Out of the Blue' album, it ends with 'Mr. Blue Sky'.
I play this every time we have a rain storm
