Show 10 - Requests

For the most part, I'll be playing a collection of songs from some of our Moon friends. And away we go.......

1) Shooting Star - Last Chance

An old favorite of the Teerminator's, he sent this to me. I hadn't heard this in maybe 10-15 years...a great tune.

2 & 3) Plackband - After the Battle & The Hunchback

Two songs of many sent by Rogor Mortis...fine melodic prog!

4) Iona - Encircling

Suggested by Moses, jnighting, et al. A morning crew favorite.

5) Mago De Oz - Hasta Que Tu Meserte Vos Separe

Another Teerminator find, I played some on the Metal show previously. Some good heavy rock.

6) Niacin - Hell To Pay

Podakayne suggested this one - always hear good things about them, but have only heard their "Red" cover. Will be playing this without hearing it first....now that's trust!

7) The Muffins - Stethorus Punctum

See above....same as the Niacin. Thanks Poda!

8) Liquid Jungle - Funkanism

Friends of Roger Lee (and they're not incarcerated!) just jamming out. Not exactly prog, but when did that ever stop me?

9) Anubis Spire - Amida Rising

Lord what a guitar feast! Not exactly wowed by the rest of the CD, and the website info is a bit self-laudatory for my taste. But man this one is great....and requested by me!

10) Mick Abrahams - Seasons

A tour-de-force sent to me by the Father of the Moon, Keith Waye Very long, and drags slightly, but overall very nice.

11) Badger - Wheel of Fortune & Fountain

Two more from Rogor Mortis. Look for some more Mortis picks next week as part of a theme. (There were two more to be played by Grand Stand, but I could not make the transfer).

12) Suicidal Tendancies - Nobody Hears

Sent by that grizzled veteran of rock and roll, Kevishev. Not prog, but see song 8.....a good rocker, I'd never heard this one either prior to sampling it the other day.

13-27) Salem Hill - Be

Reflect
Symposium
Nowhere Is Home
The Great Stereopticon
Children of the Dust
So Human
Red Pool
Underneath
Seattle (In Memory of...)
Apollyon
A Perfect Light
Love Won't Save The World
I Didn't Come For You
Beings
Regard Me

Took the liberty of tossing this one in. I had never heard of them prior to Rosfest 2004. I think maybe I kept thinking of Cypress Hill, and never bothered. Silly me. Their prior three (or four?) CD's are on the Moon. This one is one of my favorite CD's, from the first time I put it on. From the King's X-influenced tunes "I Didn't Come For You" and "The Great Stereopticon" to the gorgeous "Beings" to the biting "So Human", this CD is awesome. Seventy-one minutes of magic.

Carl Groves is just an incredible songwriter. He shares some of the duties with Michael Dearing and Pat Henry, but his fingerprints are everywhere. His guitar solo on "Beings" was out of this world at Rosfest. Although there is a musical and lyrical theme that runs throughout the record, the songs are distinct. I think this gives "Be" an advantage over "The Robbery of Murder", in which each song is beholden to the theme. Nor is there any fat, as IMHO is a minor failing of "Suite Hope Suite".

As always, hope you can make it!
