The treatment of virtual memory is pretty basic too. Page table translation is limitied to a single translation buffer lookaside in the discussions I've found. There isn't a single modern processor that is structured this way. There doesn't appear to be a discussion of multi-tiered page translation, translation buffer invalidation, granularity hints, huge paging, page protection mapping and myriad other virtual memory concepts. Maybe you should consider another book for your desert island reading.
