Show 101 - Giant Spacefish!

Three artists to feature this show, some real diversity...

Auroris

cuts from "Recycled Space Debris" (2005)

Turbulence
Lamourobbotica
tentacles
Autonamous
Exit Pod Z

cuts from "Cryogenic Dreams" (2006)

Cerebral Vortex
Aeon
Timewaves
Cruel Gravity

Auroris is Tony Rudd, an artist from the UK I was introduced to through my space. He's a self-described struggling artist, and a nice guy to boot. He sent me these two CD's, which will be on the Moon soon. As you can guess by the titles, it's space rock, but his songs are more melodic and less crunchy than a lot of what's out there. He's not afraid to use the piano and plays all music himself. Hopefully Tony can listen and join in on the replay (the first play is at an ungodly hour for him). I know I won't be around on the first play (the mighty Flower Kings await) and work will interfere with most of the replay.

Beardfish

cuts from "fron en plats du en kanse" (2003)

fron en plats du en kanse
today
brother
poison ivy and the full monty

cuts from "The Sane Day" (2005)

A Love Story
Sun Is The Devil
The Gooberville Ballroom Dancer
Igloo On Two
The Basic Blues
Blue Moon
Return To Mudhill
Ask Someone Who Knows

Beardfish is an exciting new band from Sweden. They opened up ProgDay this year to the rousing "Gooberville Ballroom Dancer", which starts out with the line "He was a filthfy motherfucker, by the name of Dwight" Most of their music is a hybrid of Zappa and Gentle Giant, the instrumental passages especially so. The debut record is less pronounced, but the title cut is GREAT. And it's the only song they sing in the native tongue. They dined with us at Progday, we had a great time. I was hoping to get a hold of them but their website is not yet active. The Sane day is a concept album about a guy with low self-esteem who improves it through Ballroom Dancing! Rikard Sjoblom, the songwriter/singer/keys/some guitar, is a real talent. Watch out for these guys....

Giant For An Hour - songs from the CD

Andy Kubicki (Andyyyy) put together a great collection of artists of "music inspired by and in tribute to" Gentle Giant. "Giant For Another Hour" was recently released and we will hear some of that in two weeks. Both are on the Moon.

Please refer to the CD or the artists, I,m running out of time...

Utopian Heights (Andy's on this one)
Suit Yourself
Lord Forrest
After All these Years
If A Tree
Times And Miracles

I want you ALL there!
