Jim and Dot

So what I'm hearing is :

1 ) A 2 to 3 hour gig

2) if only certified material, Then no aural submitions needed. Just a Playlist from the Requests area in needed (unfortunately this puts to work a Management type to program in the playlist)

3) what about Intros, A way to get the Members words or a Show host

4) A show title (The Lunatic Asylum?) and a Time slot

5) Under these guide lines can we begin to formulate our List of Tracks?

Initially, yes. At least until such time as Jim and I can both scrape together sufficient time to discuss the issue.

Intros are going to be the responsibility of the DJ. They're going to be on their own to record what they want, when they want to do it, etc. We will not filter for content, only technical issues.

Yah. Personally, I'm leaning toward "Lunar Debris" or something along those lines. Perhaps something that emphasizes the amateur nature of it?

Don't see why not. Since Vax seems to have taken the lead on this, I'll let him handle the logistics of how things get sent and the like.

But before everyone inundates Vax with their stuff, Jim and I need to take some time (which is in short supply for both of us) and determine how (or if) we want to go through with this...likely with Vaxman in on it, since he's likely gonna be the one programming it.

Roger -Dot- Lee, at least until he burns out on it, that is...

I'd review anything before it aired... just to keep it "nice".

My only concern is for playing something not on the moon. We'd need to make all those fun entities (ASCAP,RIAA, SESAC, SOCAN, BMI, etc.) happy so we might have to keep it limited to music on the moon unless the CD is donated to the moon -- in which case, it would be on the moon.

Well, copius amounts of free time have recently become a premium. Seems my photo gigging is becoming more than just a hobby. I have the s/w stuff to do too... (sheesh, I have billings I haven't done). But, the music must flow so let me know.

Isn't there an easy possibility to play music which is not on the moon? How do Sean, Cozy and Rick do it, as I guess that what they play isn't on the moon always?

It would definetelly more fun to hear also tunes which are not necessarily on the moon...

That's a good question. Since I'll be scarace the next two weeks and can't engage in back and forth discussion, I'm deferring to Jim on this one.

It really doesn't matter if it's on the Moon or not. SESAC songs are not eligible, though, due to their (IMO) excessive cost for a blanket license, which I've refused to pay and so removed all SESAC songs from the playlist. UNLESS you have written permission from the author of the song to play it. ASCAP and BMI are OK.

And there you have it. If it's not SESAC, then it's Kosher. That should expand the playlist more than a little.

Roger -Dot- Lee, one step closer...

If we are to use certified non/Moon material, what would be the delivery system.(a burn , ? download? more to ponder.)
Management just had this dropped into their lap, so thanks for your positive responce and we know how busy we all are right now, Maybe we could launch a Fall/Winter presentation of
LUNAR DEBRIS hosted by the VAXman

Is there a list on the net, where you can find the "banned Sesac" tunes?. If so, the Moonie setting up the show can adhere to it and just not play the SESAC ones...

This should be an easy solution then to play also titles, which are not on the moon.

To Sharc: I guess the best solution is to send a burned CD to Vax with the show...

And, I agree, Management should come to a decision and delegate (as all managements do ) tasks. The idea to start with it in autumn is good

If/When this comes to fuition, I could also setup an ftp or web upload. I would, however, be loathe to accept attachments in email.

Just putting the thread on the top again, as the decision of the management is still lacking...

IMHO as what all the posters said, there should be no technical difficulty to establish this as Vax volunteers to collect all the files..

So, Jim, let us hear you...

The SESAC web site has a search whereby you can search for specific songs/artists. Songs are listed by author, so you wouldn't find "Yes", but you would find "Chris Squire". As an example, as Yes is not actually a SESAC artist.

I say let's go for it, as long as Vax can handle the logistics.

Jim

Ok. The first thing I think we need is a "show of hands" as to who is interested. No sense in a show with only say 3 airings.

How about those of you wanting to do this, do ahead and put your shows together. When your don't let me know and we'll discuss getting your contributions to me for airing.

I'd like to have a "stock pile" of shows before these air. I suspect that your initial efforts may entice others to want to produce a show.

Putting a show together is time consuming and not knowing how many will produce a show, maybe this will be something less than a once a week gig. Maybe one a month with a couple of repeat slots... who knows.

the fine print,

It would seem that 3 one hour discs would ease Vax's working with us. A natural gap for promos and Vaxisms---Is this what we should shoot for? Lotus really wanted works not found on the Moon? Is this to be the idea or are we still picking Favorite gems from the RQ list. I must say that there are so Many lunartracks that are fav's seldom heard on air. If so, should this list be in One hour increments? ... So a show could consist of 1 hour of Moon tracks and 2 one hour burns for example,..,personally I would favor the whole 3 hours produced by the shows creator for greater variety and less work for Brian,
The Moon's library does make me Drool !!! ...These are my last questions....thanx to Lotus for the push out of the airplane
