Thanks Ted and thanks again to everybody else who has contributed.

I thought I'd share a photo with you. This is a picture of the two cells that I pulled from the UPS. I hope you can see how they swelled under the load of the power outage. They were old and this can happen. It was very difficult to get them out of the UPS because the swelled so badly. The set on the right was damaged by me trying to pry beneath the cell to get it out. The smear on the side is from the acid gel that leaked out when I cracked the casing in the removal procedure.

I have ordered new batteries and they are scheduled for delivery on Tuesday. I had them sent UPS ground which was the cheapest shipping method. These batteries are very heavy (61LBS shipping weight) so ground was the cheapest method and that was still in excess of $40.

Next Tuesday there should be 48V@19AH delivered. I will schedule a brief downtime Wednesday (assuming they arrive Tuesday) to install them into the UPS.

I will then get to the replacement of the external cell's batteries.

VAX,

Thanks for the update and the photos... WOW... it is amazing that they can swell that much...

Yeah for contributors to the Moon... and for your diligence in taking care of things...

It is wonderful to be a part of this community.

Ted
