Re: Aural Moon Band
You have to sound better than the dudes at the after party playing bongoes and beer bottles to Suppers Ready.

Re: Aural Moon Band
As long as those bongos and beer bottles can handle the 9/8, we're in business!

Re: Aural Moon Band
What exactly are we talking about doing here. We have many options. Do we want to put together a CDR? Or do we want to jsut do a few songs together? Roger has some pretty complete music (to my ears) and if he's willing, we can start filling up a CDR, depending on how things flow together...JT has a tune, others might also. We can also try a group effort composition...

Re: Aural Moon Band
I play guitar (main axe), bit of keys, bit of bass, bit of drums, bit of mandolin, bit of prolly whatever other stringed instrument might be useful and would be willing to help if needed. It's been a while since I've done much music-wise, but again I'm willing to help with playing, mixing, engineering etc. if needed. There's a home studio post in the forums moono started where I listed my gear for anyone who's curious.
I also have a tune I wrote to a friend's lyrics a while back that never went anywhere, certainly not finished by any means, it's sorta proggy, and the guy that wrote the lyrics thought it was cool as did a few others who heard it, but yet it died on the vine. I'm playing everything on the current demo including drumKAT drums I borrowed from the lyrics author so it's current state could clearly be improved lol. Also the vox are done with a vocoder at this point. Willing to donate it for reworkage if anybody thought it was worthwhile to try, but will not be at all offended if it hits the dustbin, that's where it is now after all... |

Re: Aural Moon Band
Hi!
At first - I sing & play background acoustic guitar (yep, brave words, I know ![]() And at second - what about starting with some cover first? Something easy, commonly known, Comfortably Numb or anything like that? Take care!! ![]() |

Re: Aural Moon Band
Well, if we want to put something together and maybe have it played on the Moon, I'm not sure if we can do a cover for that purpose without paying royalties...anyone know?

Re: Aural Moon Band
I've heard some of your material- Roger, Kirk, Borfus and others, and know the ideas and playing is very good, so this can be interesting to mix up all these styles!
As to transfer of files, we can use www.yousendit.com ...works rather well and free (free account file size cannot be larger than 100 M). |

Re: Aural Moon Band
Wow, this is pretty cool, great responses from everyone. I mainly play bass as you all know. as far as heading this up, I have never done that. Maybe there is a way to have a conference call of some sort to talk it over and see what comes of up?

Re: Aural Moon Band
I offer my lyric writing capabilities. I have a drum set and am willing to play but still a novice in terms of recording. Last time this subject arose I wrote "Earth Without the Moon" which I'll post again. And I can certainly write something to any composed musical ideas...

Re: Aural Moon Band
This is pasted from a thread a few years back...and I don't think any Moonies would steal my lyrics, but I have copyrighted them...
Third verse picks up the tempo; "interconnected orbits" is staccato and bridges into an instrumental section; "goodbye satellite" begins the resolution completed with the last half verse... "Gazing at the stars leads to galactic aspirations Howling at the moon became our lunar inspiration But all within the solar system’s slightly out of tune When we consider earth without the moon Ancient lore and relics buried deep within the ground Illuminate and demonstrate the wisdom we have found A message from the ancients carved in stone in mystic runes Never live on earth without the moon Geopolitical altercations are a hyperactive display Pessimists always predicting radioactive decay Looking back I’ll have to say it ended all too soon If we end up on earth without the moon Interconnected orbits Tides of history Growing concentric circles Escape velocity Good bye Satellite We will miss your light Sanctify the night God, it felt so right Someday in the future we’ll emerge from our cocoon And recreate our earth within the moon" |

Re: Aural Moon Band
If I recall all the experiences I made with www.thebeardedsproject.de I think it's very important that there is a "nucleus" of some people who really want to put something together. We had a bunch of guys who were determined to bring it to a good end even if it gets difficult. It's about dedication, compromises and the ability to be a teamplayer. And it's about respect.
It's not always been easy but I had lots of good times being a part of The Bearded's Project. And I learned so much !!! If you take part in a project like this you'll be able to exchange knowledge and experience with other musicians. So it's also a chance for everyone to improve their sound, their mixing abilities, their songwriting and so on. ... and if it works it will make all the members very very proud, maybe some of them will become very good friends. That's what happened with our project. Kind regards, hans |

Re: Aural Moon Band
To add to what Hans says, there needs to be a leader or a decision group.

Re: Aural Moon Band
Yes, Rick, that's another important thing. Just one example: someone will have to mix the whole thing. This job is important and difficult. Everyone has to give his or her tracks into the hands of this person and everyone has to accept what "the producer" will make it sound like in the end. That has to be made clear. Everyone can make suggestions, everyone can throw in his ideas, but at the end of the day you do have to accept the mixing guy's (or gal's) decision even if it's not sounding like you want it to. Otherwise it won't work.
