Need your approval for "Listener's Corner"

Okay, I've been wanting to do something of a show. The recent discussion of an album hour and with Fusion Reactor taking a "break," I thought it may be time to fill some gaps.

I'd like to host what I'd like to call "The Listener's Corner." This would be a 90-120 minute show that could feature playing the "concept album" and a 60 minute set from our listeners (much like those put together for the 10th Anniversary show). This would allow listeners to express their interests and tastes via a small show without having to do the work, both on the album side, as well as single tracks.

I may, from time to time, take that time to play an album and set list of my own choosing, as well.

I also like the idea of a "random album" played on NRW, and this would not preclude or substitute for that notion. I think that's fine as it stands. My show would be to monitor and manage the choices of 'concept albums.' Yes, I'm volunteering to be the scapegoat. (O' lord, what am I getting myself into)

Anyway, what do you think?

Re: "Listener's Corner"

Of course, if the show of the listener done at the party of the commemoration on the tenth anniversary dashes out, I will enjoy them.
I think that the show of the concept album that lotus proposes is held now and the schedule changes a little.

By the way, I memorized that Wednesday of AM was a day of the investigation for the library. Perhaps, I think that all Admin adjusts the schedule well.

Thanks, Methem, for the refresher. That made for some interesting reading.

If I may allay any any concerns in regard to that thread. The show I'm suggesting will all be handled by me. I'll be the DJ, I'll solicit playlists from the moon population, I'll find and upload material not found on the library, and basically handle the whole kit and kaboodal. The only things I'll ask of the population is to listen in and send me suggestions/requests.

I have the access as an admin to take care of all the mechanics of the project. Not that I wouldn't take 'pre-recorded' projects from AM members, it's just not a requrement for the project. I'll take all the help offered, but it, too, is not required.

Jim, our fearless leader on this mooniverse, is the ultimate decision maker on what gets played, of course.

So, how's that sound?

Re: "Listener's Corner"

It is great to see one's ideas taken up to make a new show (although I am 100% sure that you were not aware of my 2005 show idea, OHD; Rogor and I even produced one show each which was never aired..)

Anyhow, looking forward to the Listeners Corner Show, playing in one part complete (concept) albums and in the other part a listeners playlist with maybe some comments.

And very curious to hear your own playlist(s) played, OHD..

When is the first show?

Lotus & Rogor - send me your playlists from those shows and I'll use them. Maybe even open the series with.

But I would like to hear more public acceptence for this show before I go jumping in head first.

Re: "Listener's Corner"

OHD this sounds like a great idea to me. Anything thats a bit different and lets the listeners get involved should take off.

Kurt, I'm glad you asked. We hadn't worked that out, yet.

I think I would prefer initial broadcast time be in the east coast morning time say 10 or 11am on Monday or Friday. I lean toward Monday as Thursday and Friday are both heavy request days.

The rebroadcast could be at night or perhaps Sat. or Sunday afternoon or evening.

Any other suggestions?

Monday should work out Dale. Sunday rebroadcast would fall on deaf ears here. It conflicts with another long running show I listen to.

Re: "Listener's Corner"

I would love to send in a playlist, Dale. Maybe even a themed list..
But, could it be rebroadcast in the evening, perhaps on Wednesday? Like, um, 9-11 CDT?

Re: "Listener's Corner"

Perhaps I missed it...but just wondering: would the content of the show be known (and posted?) ahead of time?

Otherwise, I think it's a good idea...certainly worth trying. And I second the Wednesday evening re-run. It would give me something to listen to when I get back from bowling

I was hoping you'd contribute. In terms of evenings, Wednesday may not be good. There is talk of SAM picking a random album hour as port of NRW. That would duplicate part of the intent of these two shows. Also, Wednesday is the day Interzone & Fusion Reactor rebroadcast. That may take too much time away for NRW.

Friday might be a good evening or even Thursday night. By that hour on Thursday, most folks are finished requesting. And it would fit "listener's requests" by being from the listeners. Friday could use an attraction to gather around. But Progressive Shores used to hold that spot. I don't know if that's coming back or not. (I hope so. In fact all the shows that have gone on hiatus, I hope they all return.)

In terms of posting playlists, I will endeavor, like the others, to do so weekly prior to airing a show.

Re: "Listener's Corner"

So, you need an album and about an hour and a half of additional playlist?

Yep - the album should be a "concept album" like we've been talking about in the other thread. I'll accept both 60 minute or 90 playlists to go with the album. The lists can be themed or just whatever you like.

(*I and the management of this site reserve the right to edit playlists.)

Re: "Listener's Corner"

if it's a one-off per week ..
... then please pick a time that hits 18:00 .... 21:00 in the UK
(that makes 19:00... 22:00 in EU .. which is not too horrendous)

if it's repeated - then I'd vote for a repeat in that slot.

RnR's slot on a Monday used to be catchable most weeks for me.

(just selfish - but although we can listen in work hours here.. can't actually relax enough to enjoy a whole album....)
