Drop Trio

Man, you guys should have Drop Trio on here. They started off as a funk/jazz instrumental trio, but after a year or so their prog influences came out. For the past year or two, they play what many are now calling "prog/funk/jazz". Why? Because they grew up with Rush, Yes, King Crimson, and tons of other progrock. Although they are enamored by the funk/jazz sounds, they are fusing the prog element into it all now, and it freaking rules.

Wait til you hear their new album due out Oct. 23. It was from a studio session of nothing but improvisations. Very cool, IMO.

CDs:
"Little Dipper" EP, 2002 - mellow funk jazz
"Big Dipper", 2003 - mellow, and up-tempo funk jazz, some prog flavor
"Leap", 2004 - wild prog/funk/jazz improvisations

Worth a listen! And worth being on AM, methinks.

Peace/love,
NINO

Re: Drop Trio

OK. The band is sending me a copy of "Leap", so it will likely be added soon...

My alma mater!

An excellent piece of news. You shant be disappointed, methinks. I am not tooting my own horn, even tho I played on LEAP, but I will say that the record is really quite good, especially thanks to Ian Varley on keys. Its good to know another great record is being added to a great site.
