Hardware replacement & Upgrade Fund

As some of you may have read, the station equipment has suffered some catastrophic failures lately. In the news item Vax posted about the latest occurrence, he has isolated the issue as being the type of hard drives that were used. Vax understands this equipment on a level so far ahead of many of us. I am so grateful for his dedication to the station, our shared art form and this loving community.

I feel, however, it may be time to help shoulder some of the burden Vax carries. It is apparent new hardware is in order to correct the issues at hand. Therefore, I am instituting a call for a fund raising campaign to make capital investments in replacement equipment and any potential upgrades the management feel warranted. I volunteer to head this campaign.

Those of you who would like to pledge small amounts (and I am NOT asking for large amounts) can contact me by personal message here on the website where we can discuss transfer of funds privately. (I do have a paypal acct. which should make it fairly easy for most).

This is a good time to get rid of that change in the coin jar, the price of a couple of Staryuks coffees, or the price of a used or new cd. Just an amount that won't hurt, as we all know the economic climate is on smog alert orange these days.

Give what you can, and help move us forward into the future spreading the rich genre of music we share.

Dale

and for those of you who can't swing the patron donation, here's a great chance to contribute $5 or something manageable, and still help out the station. Remember, all of us are volunteers and spend our own money to keep this afloat...

Re: Hardward replacement & Upgrade Fund

An update of our fund raising. We have collected about half of the first goal I had set of $500.00. Several people have pitched in in small ways and that's just fine.

The first project for upgrade/renewal of equipment is new battery packs for the server's upc power backups. These cost about $350. So more money is needed to get those.

If donations don't continue to come in, I may need to do an all day marathon and talk non stop for hours to promote the cause. Yes, hours and hours of my speaking over the air. Maybe a little music from time to time.

So, please consider a small donation.

You can send your donation using paypal to dalelawrence01@att.net

That's also my regular email if you would like to contact me about donations.

Thank you so much for you support.

Dale

Matching Grant Challenge

I am a relative newbie here on Aural Moon, but in my short time as a member I have to say that the site and the community have enriched my life. And I know it has enriched many of my fellow members too, as evident from the lively discussion in the Shoutbox each day and the active participation in Show’s and themed days. (We are also not shy to complain when something is not working properly on the site – LOL).

That’s why it’s important that we all do what we can to support the effort to upgrade the hardware that delivers this great experience that is Aural Moon.

To that end, I issue a challenge to all Moonsters. For each $1 another member contributes to the upgrade fund through the end of October, 2010, I will match $1, up to a total of $250.

Get out your checkbooks folks – time is a wasting…
