COTM #72 - Live Classics

Greetings Mooniverse!

This month (September) I will be running a series of features that highlight the best live albums from your favorite classic groups.

I see no better place to start than my own very favorite live album ever.....

YESSONGS! (Woot)

I know you have your own favorites and I hope I pick yours in the near future. Hmmm, this might take longer than a month.... You don't mind do you?

See you on the Moon.

I should have seen this coming.
I hear this group's pretty good. Oh yeah. That's why I started with my favorite live album.

Be careful what you ask for...

In your first show, you mentioned that "stuff" after 1989 wouldn't be eligible, but in fact, many of our favorite dinosaur bands have recorded several excellent live concerts after said marker. Of these, there are many examples, and some standout because of the lineup or even just the energy that comes through in the recording. While I could do like YesSpaz and list of all of PFM's live albums, I'll suggest Live in Japan 2002 as an excellent "recent" representative recording.

Re: COTM #72 - Live Classics

Thanks again everyone for the suggestions. All great stuff.

For Mooniverse, I am trying to stay with the early phase of prog classics, so I'll be choosing shows recorded prior to '85.

Please, that is NOT a choice of quality - just a time-frame from which I want the show to focus on. Now, there are new albums of old shows and those could be eligible. If I should so wish, that is.

But I really want to get a feel of what some of your favorites are. So shows recorded from 1968 but prior to 1985. Released prior to '85 is best, but as I said, there are new tapes of old shows coming out that deserve a listen (and some that should have stayed in the vaults).

Well, if we want more and recent albums, here again a link to that idea..
