KC, GG, and Rebel Wheel news

rather than repeat myself over and over, I'll just post some info here that I recently came across.

King Crimson
---------------

first, this huge announcement can be found on Steve Wilson's website:

"King Crimson's label DGM have announced that they will start to release Steven's 5.1 surround sound mixes of the King Crimson back catalogue in June, with "Lizard" and "Red", followed by a special 40th anniversary edition of "In the Court of the Crimson King" in October. Where appropriate new stereo mixes and out-takes / alternates have also been mixed, although we don't know yet if DGM will approve these for release as part of the new editions."

Gentle Giant
--------------

In other interesting prog news, a good portion of Gentle Giant seem to be having another go of it. Here's the news of the April 16th concert with Gary Green, Kerry Minnear, and Malcolm Mortimore:

They'd gotten together without Kerry a while back as Rentle Giant. Youtube has some clips of this show here:

if you read the comment at the bottom...it says they intend to tour. also, if you read here:

http://billsprogblog.blogspot.com/20...en-malcom.html

it says:

"We also hope that new music will be created as a result of this group."

start salivating now...

Rebel Wheel
--------------

not sure how many people remember the band that played opening night at the Holiday Inn at rosfest last year. they had a new drummer, and they put on a pretty hot show. they're working on their new album now, and I've run across a couple items of note. first, a video of the drummer in the recording studio for one of the new songs. this video is missing the sax part, but it's still pretty cool to watch. it heats up at about the 4 minute mark:

and here's a 6 minute audio clip from a 35 minute epic that will be on the new album (I'm sure Ramsgate will be happy to hear this). ;-)

Re: KC, GG, and Rebel Wheel news

I'm curious as to whether or not the Gentle Giant guys will perform as Gentle Giant. It's very good news regardless. I do remember hearing about Rentle Giant which was cool in it's own right. It's too bad John Weathers isn't involved in some shape or form. I know he doesn't actually play drums anymore but it would still good to see him help out in some way.

I saw various comments that indicated that that was unlikely. frankly, I don't care what they're called. if they make music I like, I'll be happy. as for john, they added kerry after their first show, so maybe there's still time. who knows if he's interested at all though.
