DRH.139 - My Warehouse Eyes, My Arabian Drums

Fela Kuti _ _ _ _ _ _ Monkey Banana _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 1975
Bob Dylan _ _ _ _ _ Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands _ _ 1966
Igor Stranvinsky _ _ Symphony in Three Movements _ _ 1945
Enigma_ _ _ _ _ _ _ Back to the Rivers of Belief_ _ _ _ _ 1990
John Coltrane_ _ _ _ Selflessness _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 1965

Arcade Fire_ _ _ _ Funeral _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 2004

Arcade Fire are an interesting band. Instead of a "guitar player" and "a drummer", they are a group of multi-instrumentalists who change instruments frequently. This gives them a unique sound in that there's a different feel for each instrument from song to song, but gives them a uniform sound in that it's all from the same corp of musicians. There's around ten or so people in the band. Another uniqueness is that while there's a definite lead singer, they all sing constantly, giving the band a cathartic and anthemic quality. If you are not familiar with Arcade Fire, I highly recommend watching this short live set from Glastonbury. I couldn't find the amazing Austin City Limits 2011 concert, so here are some random other killer live clips, including a hurdy gurdy.
