It could turn out to be very good. It will be different for sure. Yes music has always been about change. These guys can't be written off quite yet.

This thread is located at: http://auralmoon.com/forum/showthrea...4&goto=newpost Here is the message that has just been posted: *************** Jon is not Yes. Drama is more Yes than any Jon solo album. With that said, I'm not "excited" about the new Yes album the way I would be if it were Jon and Rick, or Jon and Patrick, or even Trevor Rabin. But I'm not "unexcited" either. Here's the thing about Jon: though he's a talented musician, arranger, and singer, he's also a big of a dictator. Yes will be more adventurous without him. Squire and Howe, especially with Alan's goading, will be more aggressive and out there. This album will not be as "light" and "airy" as Magnification or the song "Show Me." The Ladder had bite because of Billy Sherwood, as did Open Your Eyes (which is a whole other topic). The last Yes-Classic-Line-Up-Album, if you will, was Keys to Ascension, which was fantastic, and had a newfound energy and vitality to it, but that was fifteen years ago. So I expect this album to be "the one we can make now because Jon wouldn't let us before," whatever that may be. I have no idea, but I'm expecting excellence musically. Lyrically, and vocally, I have no idea what to expect. Is Benoit going to be writing lyrics? Will Chris take a vocal solo song, with Benoit backing him up? I'd like to see Benoit and Chris do something Journey did on the four albums that they had both Steve Perry and Gregg Rolie: dual lead vocals on some songs (Floyd did this from time to time as well). Some example are Just the Same Way (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twC6F...eature=related) and Feeling That Way/Anytime (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0RFp...ature=related). Yes, I'll buy it the day it comes out without hearing a note, and while I'm hopeful, I don't think I'll experience letdown because I'm not expecting spectacular-ness. ***************

Why, because I support the concept of YES, no matter who is the current line-up. I have never pre-supposed what the next album "should be." It's their music and they can do what ever they want with it. Will I like it? Maybe, but not if I record it in my mind first, as so many others have seemed to have done already. I liked very much the latest album from Mystery, Benoit's group. I look forward to hearing something with him and the Yes family that will be what he does rather than trying to sound like someone else. Rejoice in the music, and the music will fill you. hee yup, chikkaw. ***************

Yes is a "concept" ? I think there's a lot of loyalty to the branding. One poster at YFs once said " As long as it says "Yes" on the ticket, I'm there! " This brings up the ghost of the comment Rick once made about there always being a Yes, a passing of the torch. Personally, I think the idea's ridiculous. K

Re: Continuing the New Yes album discussion...
I'd have to give it a listen... those Raabin years were pretty tough on the ears.

Yes *is* a concept - lately, the concept is wearing thin, for me. Whomever sings/plays for them, if it sounds good, I'm in...

Re: Continuing the New Yes album discussion...
I like the Rabin years, minus a two songs on Big Generator - "Rhythm of Love" and "Almost Like Love." I think Rabin is a much-needed shot of adrenaline in Yes's collective arm, and keeps them vital when he's in. Let me say it here: I'm pro-another-Rabin-Yes-album, as long as Tony Kaye is not involved. A line-up of Rabin, Anderson, White, Squire, and Wakeman (Rick loves playing with Trevor) - that would be fantastic. One album, then back to Steve!
