Poll: three albums...

Ok, this is pretty banal... but if you were sent to a desolate island (with some sort of stereo system, I suppose ), which three (3) music albums would you take with you?

A similar "poll" is currently running in one of the Finnish USENET groups, and my choices for it were:

- Ozric Tentacles: Erpland
- Black Sabbath: Technical Ecstasy
- Värttinä: Oi Dai (folk)

It doesn't need to be prog. rock.

Re: Another poll: three albums...

Well, pick five then if that's easier for you.

Yes please search, it will be at least fun to see what was picked. I too remember that (I probably have a dozen posts too )

I would:

1) Get the idiot's guide to escaping a desolate island
2) try to find the camera crew to make sure it's not a stupid ass reality show
3) Barring the first two, find electricity to plug in the turntable.

Re: Another poll: three albums...

Glad you found that. It was fun looking through the evolution of the posts and the replies. What I learned was:

1) Just how much non-prog we all love. There's no reason to hide that....

2) Quantum Jo with a classical record, Gamalon, and AC/DC. Now THAT's range (or scizophrenia)! Damn I miss that guy.

3) That I bitched about doing a list and said it would change, yet I don't think it did.

4) How the thread teetered periously close to evolving into a King's X thread.

5) And finally, how underrepresented we all are in the forum, the more responses, the move fun and variation.

Someday I have to do a Top 100.

Edit/Delete Message

Only change would be to include Marbles - Marillion, but I have no idea which one I would drop off my list.

Could I also bring a genie in a bottle to grant my every wish?

... That you really dig those particular 3-5 albums/works, perhaps.

I don't know. Ask Keithie. I never requested any books or other items. I wouldn't have started this new thread if I had known about the older thread. (I loosely browsed the archived threads yesterday but obviously managed to skip that particular thread.)

Agreed. There's plenty of interesting and good music out there, regardless of the genre.

Even rap, something that seems to be so dreaded here, can be good. While I'm not an expert, I would say/guess that some well-done instrumental hiphop fused with some jazzy stuff, for example, makes a pretty delicious combination. Well, not for every ear...
