Happy June!

Hoo boy. We've got a bunch of new stuff. Some I've actually heard of, too! Some of it sounds awful eclectic. Some of it to the point of unpronouncability (is that a word?).

Enjoy!
  • Blezqi Zatsaz - The Tide Turns
  • Drama - Drama
  • Dun - Eros
  • Electric Orange - Orange Communication
  • McLaughlin, John - Adventures In Radioland
  • Mostly Autumn - The Spirit of Autumn Past
  • National Health - Missing Pieces

And a couple of late additions:
  • Hackett, Steve - A Midsummer Night's Dream
  • Hackett, Steve - Voyage Of The Acolyte

Complete!

I had a chat with Jim about that and I agree that "Complete" would be the best National Health to get. I hope it's relatively cheap - the first two records individually were too costly.

I don't know whether to be distressed or amused that the 'sponsored links' on that page all are pointers to progressive bifocals.

Roger -Dot- Lee, easily amused at this hour.

Indeed. I've liked what I've heard from it so far. In fact, I think Jim hit 100% with this lot as there isn't anything that I've heard from this lot that I haven't liked.

Roger -Dot- Lee puts on his critic cap (was Re: Happy June!)

Now it's generally considered bad form to quote your own stuff. However, I've never been known for my form, so here are my comments:

Quote:

This one is turning into a total surprise. I'm not usually a fan of artists I have trouble pronouncing. On this one, I will make an exception. This is a must hear. Very, VERY tight accoustic guitar. Highly suggested.
Quote:
  • Drama - Drama
Another surprise from the vault. I find that I"m starting to like this one. Nuances and dynamics that I was certainly NOT expecting. This is another one that I plan to investigate as time goes on.
Quote:
  • McLaughlin, John - Adventures In Radioland
This one probably surprised me more than anything else. I was expecting more new-agy/neo-prog from Mr. McLaughlin, and have been pleasantly surprised at the balance involved. Very tight, free flowing, yet secure in itself. Must Investigate More.
Quote:
  • Mostly Autumn - The Spirit of Autumn Past
Typical of Mostly Autumn. This is not a disparaging comment at all. They do what they do very well. Nice, relaxing music without being sleep inducing or overly impressed with themselves. And it shows in their music.
Quote:
  • National Health - Missing Pieces
This one leaves me a bit confused. How about some feedback? Good? Bad? Too neo/classical/medal, ETC.

Actually, I'd LOVE to hear some feedback on all of these. I, for one, am impressed at the quality and dynamics that are being re-introduced into the 'rock music' genre as a direct result, IMO of the progressive rock scene.
Quote:
And a couple of late additions:
  • Hackett, Steve - A Midsummer Night's Dream
  • Hackett, Steve - Voyage Of The Acolyte
I personally am looking forward to hearing a bunch of this new stuff. From what I've heard, it should be some outstanding work.

Well, enough rambling. I have to get up in far too few hours.

Roger -Dot- Lee.

My favorite Yes song was not on the playlist until now? Weird.

Now you just need to spell it right.

Ya know, I looked at it. I tried it the other way.

I like it better this way.

Everyone else is going to be searching on 'Siberian' instead of 'Khatru' anyway.

(besides, it's correct in the RQ bin. So even if they search on Khatru instead of Siberian, they'll find it).

So I'm gonna leave it Just Like It Is.

So There.

we did have several versions of Siberian Khatru on the playlist, just not the studio version. Don't ask me why, that predates my time here.

Latest of the greatest - Updates of 6/7

Greetings, Fellow Lunites!

Boy do we have a bunch of REALLY good stuff. I just spent the better part of an hour fiddling and poking and prodding and doing other interesting things with the cool new selection. The random track selection was top notch.

I'm gunna quit raving and start posting. Here, in no particular order:
  • Bozzio, Terry & Billy Sheehan - Nine Short Films
  • IQ - Dark Matter
  • Karda Estra - Voivode Dracula
  • Ritual - Superb Birth
  • Saens - Prophet In A Statistical World
  • Tr3nity - Precious Seconds

The overwhelming majority of people who were in the white room at the time (both of us) loved it all. I'm sure you will too.

Actually, the fact that it's in alphabetical order is completely coincidental. I went through, copied, wrote, updated, waited for the station to stop rebuffering, updated. Lather, rinse, repeat. Consider it lucky that they were alphabetical.
