I wish you would have said so at ROSfest. I would have had you tell your opinion of it to Alan.

To me the best part of the record is his work, especially the instrumental "Remember When". And he was excellent with Mirthrandir. He doesn't write any other songs on the Advent.

I don't see a problem with stating that I found it a bit uninspiring. I think parts of it drag, and there's some dead air.

However, I like Andyyyy's suggestion to listen some more. I do enjoy most of it.

If I would have heard it there, I would have gave my opinion if asked. The day I suck up to an artist is the day I stop seeing concerts.

Spiritualized is definitely a dream pop band, but worth a check if you can find a used copy. They also have great cover art.

I am listening to Michael Lee Thomas on Soundclick. I love what I have heard so far and have downloaded a bunch of his tunes.

Re: What CD's Are you Playing RIght Now? Top 5

The Cds that get the most listening time here these days:
The Arcade Fire - EP
Boards of Canada - Geogaddi
The Apples in Stereo - Fun Trick Noisemaker
Kid Loco - A Grand Love Story
Beulah - When your Heartstrings Break

Yup, no prog or recent stuff here. But then that's just a top 5 of what I'm listening to right now isn't it?

Re: What CD's Are you Playing RIght Now? Top 5

I don't really know, sharc!

I've bought two new CD's in the past month...

Magic Pie - Motions of Desire

Forgas Band Phenomena - Soleil 12

Maybe I haven't listened to the Magic Pie enough yet, but the only song that resonates with me is the title track.

The Forgas Band CD has some great moments. It's quite edgy with sort of a crossover thing happening between jazz and Canterbury.

I dug out my copy of Jadis' "Across the Water" again. This is such a good CD, imho their best work. We don't have it on the Moon....yet. (pending Jim's yes)

I've also been playing Pat Metheny Group's "Full Circle". "Mas Alla" - a beautiful song.

What else...oh yes, I never tire of Magenta's "Revolutions". Been playing that alot lately.

Re: What CD's Are you Playing RIght Now? Top 5

5. Forgas Band Phenomena - Soleil 12

4. The Underground Railroad- The Origin of Consciousness

3. Nell James- Tempus Wow! This young lady is on her way up! Prog as performed by the young generation! www.nelljames.com http://www.myspace.com/nelljames

2. The Rebel Wheel This is a sleeper. The music is among the best I have heard this year! Gotta get it on the Moon! www.therebelwheel.com http://www.myspace.com/rebelwheel

1. Giant for Another Hour (OK, so I'm cheating here because I just got the masters and it's going into duplication this week! Am I excited? You bet! But I am a bit more anxious as it's a bit more mellow than Giant for an Hour. But there is a lot of good intelligent music there! Yes, I am playing that the most now.)

Re: What CD's Are you Playing RIght Now? Top 5

1) Madcap Laughs - Syd Barrett
'nuff said.
2) Live - BJH
Love this live album.
3) Afraid of Sunlight - Marillion
One of the best Hogarth era albums I think.
4) Revolutions - Magenta
Like mossy, I've listened to this quite a lot recently.
5) As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls - Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays
I LOVE this album. The title track is just beautiful. Very mysterious but stunning crescendo.

Little Feat's first album, The Goth Witch Project (a bizarre goth rock compilation), and The Steve Martin Brothers (the best half-comedy, half bluegrass album I've ever heard).

Can't you boys in Florida count? That's three!

I'll add the first Molly Hatchet record for you. Listened to that on my trip going through WV...love it.

That Goth Witch sounds like fun.

Okay, okay... Opeth-Ghost Reveries is getting heavy rotation right now, and I picked up Porcupine Tree-Signify a few weeks ago so I'm exploring that, too. Don't blame me, I voted for Homer Simpson.
