Rickter Scale Show 208 - "Orchestra In Progrock"

airing Sunday, December 28 from 8-11 PM EST and Monday, December 29 from 1-4 PM EST

Posting a day early because of the holiday - it's always good to postmark things in advance so it gets there on time!

This week is a theme I'd been working on for quite some time, but finally got seriously worked on last week. I was going to do some obvious selections, like Yes or Zappa, but I seemed to have gone instead with a lot of prog music by bands on the fringes of prog.

These are songs that are heavily backed by an "orchestra" of some sort, regardless of the size. Maybe just say orchestrally influenced. The Elton is from the Live In Australia CD, a brilliant piece of work (although Elton's voice suffers a bit).

Here's the set list:

Ronnie Montrose - Openers/OpenFire
Magenta - Lust
XTC - Greenman
Cailyn - New World In Blue
Deep Purple - April
Kansas - Song for America (Live)
Beatles - She's Leaving Home
Rainbow - Rainbow Eyes
ELO - Fire On High (Live)
Scorpions - Lady Starlight
Echolyn - Never the Same
Joe Jackson - Symphony No. 1 (First Movement)
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - A Last Illusion
Extreme - Rise n' Shine, Am I Ever Gonna Change
Black Sabbath - Spiral Architect
Elton John (Live) -
Sixty Years On
Tonight
The King Must Die
Madman Across The Water
ELP - Pirates

Enjoy the Theme and Merry Christmas! Next week are rebroadcasts of the Moon O' Poll for 2008.

We wish always to express our gratitude for offering wonderful music.
I never expected that Spiral Architect of sabbath had been inserted. It is terrific. By the way, I like JACK FOSTER that you took up before very much. This might become favorite of me. New music for me is examined and pursued.

Thanks! Jack is a good friend of the Moon and all four of his CD's are wonderful.

No one expects the Sabbath inquisition!
