The Bearded's Project

Oh dear, how I hate first post spammers...
Anyway, I'll combine it with a short introduction as a regular posting from my side is quite possible.
I'm Jürgen, 39 years old, German, prog rock fan with changing faves (SB, PT, PoS, Sylvan, Neal Morse, DT, Kevin Gilbert, Riverside, King's X, Echolyn, Flower Kings or A.C.T).
I love going to gigs and fortunately, Germany is on the tour list of most bands.
I'm quite active on several message boards and internet radios, so you might have seen my user name before (SB board, Ytsejam, Enchant, progrock.com, Dividing Line...).

Anyway, I'd love to promote a project that will see the light of day in a few moons.
Some members of the very active German Spock's Beard community http://www.thebearded.de are currently producing a progressive rock double-CD with original music which will be released in spring 2007 (we are aiming for a release at the beginning of June).
The album's title is The Bearded's Project: HOPE | OMID. (Omid is the Afghan word for hope.)
All the incoming money will be given to a very successful aid organization, the German Aid For Afghan Children (www.aid-for-afghan-children.de). This private organization founded, in cooperation with the population, several so called Peace-Schools in this crisis region. In December 2006, they received a renowned award for their excellent work.
One of the highlights of the album is a 41-minute epic, written and performed by several posting members of the board. There will be a contribution from a famous prog artist.

Please check the homepage of the project: http://www.thebeardedsproject.de You can stream a few songs there, including a part of the epic.
It would be much appreciated if you sign the guestbook and let us know what you think of the idea and the music.
You can already pre-order the album through the homepage. Shipping costs will depend on your country and the number of CD's you want.
The CD will also be available through the InsideOut webshop.

You can also listen to some songs on the myspace site: http://www.myspace.com/thebeardedsproject

A link to the album cover: http://www.thebeardedsproject.de/ass..._birke_104.jpg

Thanks for reading!

Think OMID means Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark

Re: The Bearded's Project

This is my post to their guestbook. I almost didn't take the time to listen...so glad I did. This is one great project!

"I'm an internet DJ with www.auralmoon.com with a show called "The Rickter Scale". Not only is it unbelievable that you have so much audio of the project available on the site, but it is of extremely high quality. I'm especially partial to "Crovenia"..what an outstanding track. I'll either pre-order it shortly or buy it when it comes out. I guarantee that it will get a full play on the show. What an excellent idea and record!"

Re: The Bearded's Project

We are all be wound up to a high pitch, same as you are.
The music is done; everything is in the mix and mastering.
Now we have to do some details for the cover and booklet.
Be prepared for the second or third week of May.

Re: The Bearded's Project

Well, it is a tribute to all the forgotten bands of the 80s; A Flock Of Seagulls, Real Life, The Romantics...
My wife and me listen to the music as we first visited Paris and I thought the music and the action of the skaters and boarders fits perfectly.
