Questionable choices
Okay - I've seen Peter Gabriel, Celestial Navigations, and Enya questioned as to whether or not they belong on AM - what do you guys think?

gabriel definately.. cn and enya kinda.. in a broad "prog" sense.
new to the forum so please forgive me if i'm suggesting out of bounds... ever consider mike keneally and beer for dolphins? the tune "late for breakfast" off the disc "boil that dust speck" would give you an idea of his particular brand of amazing =o) |

Keep 'em. I'm not a purist and wouldn't be able to argue finer points of classification anyways To me, those artists' music fits well within the collection here.

I think the question that should be asked is, "Is Aural Moon a Progressive Music site or a Progressive Rock site?" Progressive Rock is a genre of Pregressive Music. Progressive Music, on the other hand, spans the whole music spectrum, whether it be World Music, New Age, Classical, Jazz, Pop, Rock, Heavy Metal, Blues, Country etc etc... If AM is a Progressive Music site, I would say welcome all, but if AM is a Progressive Rock site, it would be best to keep with that genre of progressive music.

Questionable choices
I would argue for the inclusion of Peter Gabriel on the playlist. Admittedly some of his newer stuff is less "progressive" eg Sledgehammer, but the older stuff (like Solsbury Hill) should definitely make the playlist.
I am sorry to say I don't count Enya as progressive. More "new age/folk". I don't know celestial navigations at all. Perhaps I should request some and judge on that basis. |
