Hey - pina colada's, hot sandy beaches, beautiful clear water and prog. I don't see the downside.

Re: Yes - Cruise to the Edge

those music cruses are getting quite popular, there is a big one coming with no less than 40 bands from the 70's. It's a trend.

Remember I grew up in the 70s when Yes was king and the only cruise I knew about was the "Love Boat"

seems like an excellent opportunity for people with lots of $$$ to be sea-sycophantic ...

Re: Yes - Cruise to the Edge

So is this the mighty Yes stooping to the level of 38 Special just to earn some income, or is it a chance to get close to and meet the hardcore fans that have followed them for decades? If the former, how sad....

Re: Yes - Cruise to the Edge

They announced the cruise line. It's MSC, and Italian line. I worked in the travel industry for 15 years and NEVER heard of this line. Definitely not one of the regular Caribbean Lines. Good luck Yes.

Re: Yes - Cruise to the Edge

I did some research on MSC cruises. Even though the entertainment line up is one of the best prog festivals ever assembled, be prepared for some major issues with the cruise line.

Go to his link: http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberre...hip&ShipID=384 - then click on "sort reviews by" and select "lowest to highest". Just reading the titles is scary.

And even with the "preferred member discount" from the Cruise to the Edge site, they are charging about $500.00 more per person for a 5-day cruise than major lines like NCL charge for a 7-day cruise! I think by the end the bands will be apologizing to the fans for the ship and it's lack of service.

Beware!!

Re: Yes - Cruise to the Edge

Actually if money was no object I wouldn't hesitate to go. There is a bunch of good bands besides Yes on this cruise. UK, Asia, Nektar, Zebra, Saga, Steve Hackett doing Genesis tunes, Tangerine Dream, Glass Hammer, Carl Palmer band and others. This should be a no brainer for any wealthy prog fans. :P

Re: Yes - Cruise to the Edge

Mike you would be correct.. It is a great line-up. Even without YES, which wouldn't kill me. But can't make it anyway. Baja and RosFest for me.

I'm going, but mainly for the snorkelling... Kidding aside, it should be fun. Unless the speedos appear.

Those of us that either can't afford it or simply choose not to go will be anxiously awaiting your "Cruise Review".
