The Spacious Mind
Not a suggestion as much as a recon mission.
Does anyone know anything about a band called The Spacious Mind? Vanila told me about them in white, but he doesn't know much about them either. He's heard one of their albums, one time, and can't find them to buy. Said it was amazing. They're long-winded spacy-psych jams. Compared to early Hawkwind and Floyd and Gong. We looked up some of their sites... Freedb.org - Check the albums by "The Spacious Mind" We think this is their official site An album review? Anyway, not even eBay or Half.com has them, but I did find them at gemm.com for about $60! Musicstack.com was more reasonable in teh $17-25$ range. Anyone know anything about these guys?

Yes indeedy........
Spaz,
You've given the best three site links for this incredible sounding band. I'd heard OF them but had never HEARD them until recently. Difficult to find but worth the effort. Definitely worth looking out for as I believe they will be PERFECT for your Brainrock show. I'll post a question on the Progressive Music Society site and see if anyone there has any more information about them. I've just ordered "Live volume 1" from Music Stack and when I get it I'll post a review of the album here. Last edited by KeithieW : 07-28-2004 at 02:32 AM. |

sounds interesting
“SPACIOUS MIND - Organic mind solution
Swedish psychedelic space rock band. Their 2nd album, and just like the first one "Cosmic mind's at play" this reminds of early 70's PINK FLOYD with sitars, flutes and lots of sound effects. For people into ASH RA TEMPEL & POPOL VUH.” source www.recordheven.net - price $15.40USD |

I knew PMS would help........ :D
Here's a reply from one of the Progressive Music Society members:
SM were (are??)an incredible band from the frozen North. Their twin guitar attack is breath-taking. If you love e-bow guitar, this is the band. This is music that begs to be listened to with earphones. I would start with their first, Cosmic Minds at Play. Then maybe Mind of a Brother, and finally Organic Mind Solution. Stay awy from the mostly acoutisc Sailing the Seagoat. To me it suffers from a sameness over all the tracks with the endless strumming guitars. If you love psych-space rock I would think this is the band. This is no Ozric clone. Can't see going wrong with any of their three titles. The twin guitars of Hidria Spacefolk remind a little of SM, specially when mixed in with the OZric influence. Keep the Faith (in the Music) Ken Going to play them on BrainRock Spaz? |

CD arrived and..............
Man is my mind getting well spacious!!!!!!!
Definite early Hawks references and general Spaced out sound. A lot mellower than I thought it would be but this is a live album and it seems that the studio efforts are a bit different in feel. Well worth further investigation. |
