Talking Re: Digressive Rock Hour

Sounds like an interesting idea. Curious to see what bands you would pick. Just imagine? Schon & Hammer, Gamma, Animals as leaders? Go 4 it!

Re: Digressive Rock Hour

There's so much amazing music in the world that's not prog. I knew a guy who owned a record store in Birmingham (that's a city in Alabama, KW), who used to be a buyer for Tower Records in NYC. He said that approximately 10,000 albums were released each week.

Holy cow.

Re: Digressive Rock Hour

To be honest, I think this sounds like a fantastic idea to everyone because you gave no examples. lol. Just about everyone likes SOME things that aren't prog (some more than others), so they're all thinking that those are the bands you're talking about. Of course they'd be for it. I won't be shocked to hear a lot of whining during the actual show though.

That said, I think this sounds like a fantastic idea. ;-)

Exactly.

Exactly.

Exactly.

So, when I first heard about the show, my thoughts were that there could be any variety of stuff that could appeal to the prog fan. Just my two cents.

Re: Digressive Rock Hour

I am also open to anything, musically. Cowboy Junkies, Patsy Cline, Grieg, Alice in Chains, Florence + The Machine, Collective Soul, B.B. King, Philip Glass, oh, wait, not Philip Glass...it's just a joke, Phil!
But I would like to suggest that near-prog, near-rock, would be the best fit for a Digressive show on AM.
But in general, I agree Yesspaz, anything that could appeal to proggers.

Re: Digressive Rock Hour

remember one of the first things I thought years ago it was this is a place of purists listeners so..beware !..obviously through the years that view have changed and I believe this idea will protocolize the "B sides" of everyone in moon..or maybe the A sides...who knows..really good to know music we share here is a part of a bigger catalog

Go for it, Spaz! I'll listen, for sure. (Unless your show is a one hour long Rovo track )

Re: Digressive Rock Hour

I say it's a good idea. I's play everything from technical metal to blues to alt country. No techno though.

Also, more avant jazz please.

See, of those, my fav is good electronica! Actually, the best of the best of all those seem fair game to me.

There is no hour-long Rovo track (though there is a 45-minute track. But it's already on AM, and thus off limits).

Now that is diversity.

Re: Digressive Rock Hour

I would be willing to have some input into this show. There are a lot of bands that aren't quite prog or maybe not usually considered prog that have material that would be appropriate for this show.

Re: Digressive Rock Hour

Hey, everyone. Just an update. We're two steps away from beginning the show.
I've just got to get my station access configuration finalized, and the playtimes finalized, and we'll be ready to go.

I've got the first three shows complete. I've received music from nsgobbi, emperorken, 100ms, and a few others. You'll start hearing those contributions by show 4. If you want to contribute music, go to the Digressive Rock Hour forum and check out the second sticky thread.

I look forward to it.
