Re: Moon O'poll 2016 - Album Of The Year

I believe that to some degree it's all subjective and it depends on personal taste and preferences. Someone who likes neo or symph wouldn't like certain stuff and vice versa. That being said I'm sure there was a lot of quality in all the various subgenres of prog releases this year.

I would say he had at least one foot in the prog door. I don't think all his stuff would qualify but certain some of it especially some of his really early stuff and then his later Berlin period. I haven't heard his very last one but apparently that is rather proggy. As for his over all prog connection Rick Wakeman, Robert Fripp and Adrian Belew all played on some of his albums.

Re: Moon O'poll 2016 - Album Of The Year

They should have a follow up album of the year show for albums that were listened to after submitting our lists. For example, I just got around to listening to Red Sand - 1759 and must say that it may have cracked my original top ten list. I like it that much. There are other 2016 releases I am sure to get around to listen to coming up as well.

Yes I forgot about the draw, I have had other problems to deal with. The CD's are on my desk here.

I have made a draw and the winners are:

Seikila
NS Gobbi
Nicola

I will send a private message to winners asking for an address.

Mortis

Re: Moon O'poll 2016 - Album Of The Year

I was looking at the top 20 from PROG magazine(in the issue with Vangelis on the cover)and noticed that only five albums from their list are on the AM top 20. Those would be the Big Big Train, Riverside, Pineapple Thief, Gong and Bent Knee albums. Not on the AM(aural moon)list but on there are albums by Marillion, Opeth, Radiohead, VDGG, Anderson/Stolt, Iamthemorning, Knifeworld, Haken and Dream Theater among others.
