COTM - #143 - Focus and Sensations Fix

Greetings Mooniverse Fans

Show #143 will pick up where we left last week. Celebrating the 1974 release (in the U.S.) of Tales From Topographic Oceans, we start off with side 2 - The Remembering - High the Memory. This is their interpretation of the 2nd Shastra classification as defined in the footnotes in Autobiography of a Yogi.

The 2nd course will be the 2nd album by Sensations Fix, which I introduced you to last week. This is a more cohesive album that fits seamlessly together. So much so that I found a mix that is presented as just two long tracks. Just like a true epic should be, album-side long. The album is Portable Madness. Sensations Fix is a vehicle for Italian keyboardist/composer Franco Falsini. He had teamed up with American Keith Edwards on drums and bassist Richard Ursillo, formerly of Campo di Marte.

Now, the main course for this week is Focus. 1974 was the year that Pierre van der Linden (drummer) left the group and was replaced by Colin Allen, formerly of Stone The Crows. He would join the group as they went into the studio for their 1974 release Hamburger Concerto. Other than the futile attempt to recreate their hit Hocus Pocus with the single Harem Scarem, this is another solid album. Although most fans of focus would say that Hamburger Concerto was their last really good album.

That's you're line up for this weeks show. I hope you will join us.

See you on the Radio.
