Next poser

These are the initials of band members........what are the bands?

Remember bands often have more than one line up and some of these may be the more obscure ones.

1) PG, MR, SH, TB, PC..................easy one to start.
2) CS, TH, GD, SH & AW
3) DF, PB, AW & AL
4) FM, SC, FP-M, RM DW
5) RT, PM, JH, GE & JL
6) GC, CB, TI & IA

Probably too easy for you guys but worth a shot....

Question Initially speaking...

I liked the idea, since I could finally get one right without guessing (and making myself look silly), so I'll continue it, only with some more recent bands. Since some of these may be quite tough, I've added their nationality and 6 out of 8 correct is all I'll require. Each band is on AM, however.
Also, each lineup is current or from the most recent album.

1. AM, RO, NDV, DM (American)
2. NM, MP, PT, RS (US/UK/SWE--sheesh what a giveaway!)
3. JB, J-FD, YJ, DJ, FD (Fr. Canadian)
4. C, SB, PA (British)
5. MR, BD, JB (American)
6. GF, DF, UP, SL (Swedish)
7. RS, IS, CN, MP, JM (British)
8. FL'E, DL, AF, SS (French)

Best of luck. Clues will be provided if needed in a later post.

Thumbs up Good job!

That's six correct, progdirjim! Here's all the answers, spelled out.

1. Alan Morse, Ryo Okumoto, Nick D'Virgilio, and Dave Meros = Spock's Beard
2. Neal Morse, Mike Portnoy, Pete Trewevas, and Roine Stolt = Transatlantic
3. Jocelyn Beaulieu, Jean-Francois Desilets, Yves Jalbert, Denis Jalbert, and Francis Doucet = Hamadryad
4. Cyrus, Stewart Bell, and Phil Allen = Citizen Cain
5. Mark Robertson, Bret Douglas, and Jeff Brockman = Cairo
6. Goran Fors, Dan Fors, Ulf Peterson, and Sven Larssen = Galleon
7. Rob Snowden, Ian Salmon, Clive Nolan, Mick Pointer, and John Mitchell = Arena
8. Frederic L'Epee, Didier Lustig, Andre Fisichella, and Serge Suma = Shylock (this one was by far the hardest)

I was hoping that I'd get to add some clues, but I should have known you guys were too good for that!

Next question please!

We touched on UK in an earlier question. I remember the radio ads when their debut album came out, talking about all the bands the members had played with. So, out of the original UK lineup, name at least 12 progressive acts they played with before, excluding themselves as a solo act. (So "Bruford" doesn't count, "Yes" does)

I was gonna try but...

I can get about half just by memory, even the not-so-obvious like Bruford on Seconds Out. Then I thought, look up the web sites - but not only could I get fired, but it's not a fair way to do it.

So, good luck everyone on another excellent question!

Holdsworth seems to be the tough one to remember. What's ironic is that after UK, all those guys played everywhere.

just to clarify, I'm using a loose definition of progressive rather than a tight one. As an example, even though none of the members played in Queen, had they, that would qualify.

and yes, Bruford on Seconds Out qualifies...

Nice one Jim.

If I wasn't so drunk I'd get onto it tonight. I guess it'll have to wait to the morning. Hope it's not too late then.

Way to go Keith - that's good enough for me. You even got one or two I didn't know about, but since you got enough legitimate ones I won't even check dates.

What I was thinking of: Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Roxy Music, Curved Air, Soft Machine, Gong, Pavlov's Dog, Zappa, Uriah Heep, Lifetime, Family, Amazing Blondel - take it away!

A side question: Who has successfully answered two quiz questions, but not asked any? He got usurped both times! Hint: Probably the last guy who deserves that kind of treatment...

That'd be Avian I guess. However, in the usurper's defence there was time for YKW to post a quezzie........but I'm not going to argue. AM might be taken off the air in a fit of pique and that'd kill me!

How about you usurping me, Avian, and setting the next Quezzie?

You have two days or I'm back with a stinker.

Ok here goes with the next question.

Cryptic clues to Album titles. They're all on AM.

1) Creepy snaps.
2) Will's girl friend having trouble meeting deadline.
3) Kindergarten felony I hear.
4) Warning on shipment?
5) Piece of music sold in Wendy's.
6) It's just an illusion.
7) Trying to track down a misplaced series of notes.
8) Silly me. This is Earth not Mercury!!
9) Stops you from drowning.
10) Emergency.......I think not!!!
