Lazy Ass DRH JB25 January 15, 2019
Lots of stuff released in the last few years, there is still good music being made outside of prog - just have to find it and perhaps be open minded..
Lorde - Green Light (amazing vocal arrangements from this Kiwi youngster, and I hear a little Joni Mitchell in her writing) - love when the piano chords and bass drum kick in Twenty One Pilots - Tear In My Heart (keys/drums duo - good sense of humor "You fell asleep in my car, I drove the whole time, but that's OK I'll just avoid the holes so you sleep fine; I'm driving here I sit, cursing my government, for not using my taxes to fill holes with more cement" haha Kongos - Come With Me Now - killer accordion riff, you will be tapping your feet Dirty Heads - Celebrate - BEAUTIFUL lyrics. All about gratitude. Blackfoot - Morning Dew - majestic song Rag'n'bone Man - Human - kick ass soulful song Alice Merton - Hit The Ground Running - pretty good straight rock K Flay - Blood In The Cut - killer bass riff, bit of a psycho chick, best lyrical moment: "It'd just be safest if you ran, fuck, that's what they all just end up doing in the end" and it sounds sincere Kinks - Living On A Thin Line - thanks to Sei for this suggestion, old fave from the 80's Huey Lewis - Walking On A Thin Line - surprisingly deep song about Vietnam vets from my college years. OK, done commenting (mostly) Lucy Dacus - Next of Kin Airborne Toxic Event - Sometime Around Midnight ("and your friends say what is it, you look like you've seen a ghost?") Arctic Monkeys - Four Out Of Five (David Bowie-ish) Missio - Middle Fingers (Defiance) Beach House - Drunk In LA (maybe I've been there) Comets On Fire - Wild Whiskey Green Day - Bang Bang Iceage - Hurrah Greta Van Fleet - Highway Tune Arcade Fire - Creature Comforts Celestial Navigations - Lunch Stop (you've been living in the here and now) The Sonics - Strychnine Sweet - Ballroom Blitz Widespread Panic - Shut Up and Drive Bjork - Atom Dance Ani Difranco - Knuckle Down - she can play guitar as well as she can emote Sheryl Crow - God Bless This Mess - beautiful song Neil Young - Ordinary People - amazing how many decades he is kicking ass Last edited by progdirjim : 02-18-2019 at 09:57 PM. |
