Why do I like DaDa???????

To be honest Mossy, I have absolutely no idea! They just get to me I guess. Excellent musicianship, excellent songs and superb vocals.

The first album "Puzzle" was a revelation to me when I heard it. I'd heard 'Dizz Knee land" on the radio and thought it was a nice quirky song with a great hook that stuck in the mind so on the strength of that I went and bought the album. I wasn't really ready for what I heard. From the first note to the last I was THERE. I played it everywhere. In the car, walking to work, during business meetings (much to the horror of my boss) and during meals.

I would love to see them live. If you get the chance GO GO GO! Take your son along as well. From what I know about him he'd love the band.

Darn it....I have to go play it again now!!!!!!

I bought the album on the recommendation of KW and RnR, but I just don't find it all that great. Taste is so weird. BTW, I heard "Dizz Knee Land" on the radio the other day and jammed to it. If only the rest of the album was that good.

I recopied this to put it up front....I appreciate your candid opinion Spaz...but this is a concert thread on dada.

Saying that dada doesn't do it for you is like saying Univers Zero doesn't do it for me. I'd still want the ones who haven't heard or seen them to do it. They're great live.

Re: Dada

I remember when Puzzle came out, and I bought it on the strength of "Dizz Knee Land". I've always thought of them as alternative pop rather than progressive, and the album struck me as being rather bland. I think I sold it to a friend not long after I bought it (though I held on to it a lot more than Tori Amos' Boys For Pele, which I hated so much I think I sold it a week after I bought it! And have never bought another album by her. But I digress).

I think at the time I was getting into October Project and Sonia Dada (no relation), both of whom I became big fans of and basically forgot all about Dada. I was rather surprised to learn recently that they're still around.

Holy bejesus! These bands are all reasonably priced.....if Al Stewart came to the Ramshead in Annapolis MD he'd fetch 30 bucks a ticket, not the 15 there. It's a big place I see. And Stan Ridgway? He's still alive!

Anyhow, the reviews above notwithstanding, if you're not too tired, etc, go for it! A Sat PM, get a nice table, enjoy yourself! You will NOT be disappointed.

If you don't like the show, I'll refund your money! (ok then maybe Keith will ).

Let me know Mossy or Jim.......

Rick, after all that I didn't make it to the gig.

The timing was off.

Hope they do a re-run there sometime soon.

I missed it too - just too busy - but my brother and I are headed up there to see Gary Hoey on Dec. 17th - and I'm stoked to see Ohm is warming up - they're pretty hot.
