#8 - Artist Feature - Bill Bruford - Groups & Solo
Today's 8th installment of an Artist/Album feature will focus on the percussionist Bill Bruford. (someone go wake up Lamour).
To start off we must begin with Yes. I have a couple live tracks taken from BBC Recordings in 1970. I think Astral Traveler and Then show off his prowess in the live setting, which is sometimes a bit too subdued in the studio. We also have a cut from one of the greatest live albums ever (well, if you discount the sound quality of the recording. Sigh). On YesSongs, Bruford was already on his way out the door to join up with King Crimson. So he only appears in two recordings, Long Distance Runaround/Fish, and Perpetual Change. As he is one wont to move forward and make change, Perpetual Change seems the appropriate song. Then in Bill's career came the many years with King Crimson. What a great improvement for that group. I'll feature here the first collaboration with Fripp, Wetton and Cross: Larks' Tongues in Aspec. A great classic prog album. We'll close out the feature with Bill's 2nd solo effort - One of a Kind. And that is so true for him. He is joined by - - Jeff Berlin / bass and vocals - Allan Holdsworth / guitar - Dave Stewart / keyboards and synths I hope you will enjoy this artist feature today. Dale
