Diff_Drummers soldier son is HOME!!!

To all my Moon Friends,

At approximately 1:30 pm Mountain time on Saturday April 9, my son Zakk put his size 15 boots on American soil after 11 months in Afghanistan. During that time, he received a Purple Heart, and 55 men from his unit, the 101st Airborne, didn't make it home.

I want to thank God for bringing my son home safely and in one piece. I also want to thank all my friends here on Aural Moon for their constant support, and appreciation for his service to our country and his sacrifice for our safety and Freedom.

My wife and I are taking him on vacation when he starts his 30 day post deployment leave the 1st week of May, with a cruise in the Bahamas and a few days at Disney. (Hey Zakk, you just spent 11 months kicking some Taliban Ass... What are you going to do now? "I'm goin' to Disney World!")

We can finally sleep peacefully now. But our prayers and thoughts go out to the families that weren't as lucky as we are. God Bless you and God Bless America.

Amen and amen. I personally thank your son for his work and sacrifice. Freedom isn't free.

Aloha, I also want to say thanks to your son as well, it is a shame that we have to send our sons and daughters to war. I disagree with this war, but I appreciate the dedication of your son.

A third amen to your prayer of thanks. We owe Zakk and his colleagues, from the U.S. Canada and elsewhere a debt we can only repay by ensuring that our freedoms are excercised and defended. Good citizenship requires us to become informed and VOTE. Too many people have died to ensure that we can.
Give my regards to Mickey.

I am so glad that your son Zakk is home safe in the bosem of his loving family.

Be proud, very proud. It takes a very special sort of person to dedicate himself, the way he has, for the good of others.

Though very few people in Europe understands what you wrote (including me) I'm glad you don't have to mourn a son.

I hope you can spare a moment for those folk that died in the opposite trenches.

Great news for you and yours, I am most certain, and I do appreciate the sacrifices of those who did not make it home. Imagine!

Re: Diff_Drummers soldier son is HOME!!!

Thank you all for your appreciation and good wishes. Zakk seems to be adjusting reasonably well to being back stateside, and as of yesterday the last men from his company, including his best battle buddy, returned home as well.

The way our current administration is running things, this is a fairly pointless war now. Our soldiers are fighting with both hands tied behind their backs, based on the current rules of engagement. It is back to the Viet Nam approach - and we all know how well that turned out. If they are not allowed to fight to win, we should bring them all home.

From what Zakk has told us, the Afghan National Army, who are supposed to take over for our troops, is a complete and utter joke. They are all constantly high on drugs and are a bunch of screw ups that he wouldn't trust with a sling shot. He says that with the way things are going, as soon as we pull out, everything will go right back to the way it was.

Please keep ALL our service men and women who are in harms way in your prayers.
